Posted: Wed Feb 19, 2014 1:27 am Post subject: UEI executor 01C8 for both Denon and Denon-K IR protocol |
|
|
Denon equipment uses two different IR protocols. We call one of these Denon or equivalently Sharp, although Denon themselves call it Sharp format. The second is the Denon variant of Kaseikyo (others are Panasonic, Teac-K, Sharp DVD, Fujitsu, JVC-48, and Mitsubishi-K). The JP1 community tends to handle this by making two upgrades using the Denon Combo (Official) executor and the Denon-K executor. The upgrade with fewer functions is incorporated with keymoves. Newer Denon receivers have greatly increased the number of device.subdevice combinations, making the "helper" upgrade approach less feasible.
It turns out that UEI has an executor that can send all Denon signals (just as the Denon Combo can) and also can send 6 different dev.sub pairs of Denon-K. It is PID 01C8, and is present in at least the following remotes:

Notes=This executor can send any Denon (also known as Sharp) IR protocol signal, and additionally Denon-K (the Denon version of Kaseikyo) signals. \n\
Up to 6 Kaseikyo device.subdevice pairs can be specified. For many Denon-K signals, the subdevice number reported by DecodeIR is related to the Zone \n\
Remote ID1 ID2-4 \n\
Zone1 1 2 \n\
Zone2 3 4 \n\
Zone3 5 6 \n\
Zone4 7 8 \n\
However, some signals (e.g. HD Radio, Net Audio, etc) are Global and have no associated Zone. \n\
DecodeIR reports the OBCs as 12 bit numbers. In actuality, Denon-K employs 10 bit OBCs, while the other 2 bits denote the Remote ID# \n\
OBCs 0-1023 are ID1, 1024-2047 are ID2, 2048 to 3071 are ID3 and 3072 to 4095 are ID4.

I just bought an AVR-X4000. I'm using the RS 15-100 and I'm able to learn commands from the Denon remote.
RM is telling me that the learned codes are Denon-K protocol with a device code of 4.
Using the learned EFC's and Denon-K protocol, I created a device upgrade in RM, but when I download it to the remote, it doesn't seem to work.
I've been using JP1 for about 15 years and this seems to be where my limitation is. I've created dozens of upgrades, but protocols are always a challenge.
Any direction would be fantastic. |

As always its best to post the files in the diagnosis section with links here. Trying to figure this stuff out from an operatator's description just doesn't cut it. We don't know if you made a mistake or you discovered a bug. We can't determine that unless you let us SEE it! |

Thanks guys. What I found is that I have the Denon Combo protocol. Denon publishes most of the codes in hex format. There were, however, quite a few codes that I could not translate using IR tool.
Here is an example of one that I could not translate:
0000 0070 0000 0032 0080 0040 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0ACE
And for the heck of it here is one that translated just fine:
0000 006D 0000 0020 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0679 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 001E 000A 001E 000A 0046 000A 0046 000A 0679 |

IRTool is an OLD tool. It hasn't been updated in years. Even with the latest protocols.dll, irtool can not identify this protocol.
There are a number of other tools that now handle pronto hex.
If you import this into IRScope, or if you add it as a learn in IR, or scrutinize it with IRScrutinizer or master it with IRMaster all will decode this as
Denon-K 4.1 OBC 711

I appreciate the help. I will look into these other tools. I wasn't aware of them.
I appreciate you being there. I would not be making progress without you. |
