I've got a ReplayTV remote that is misbehaving. It doesn't control any devices and the LED keeps flashing. Two flashes and it repeats continually.
I've used the JP1 to program this type of remote before but I don't know how to fix a remote that is in this state.
Thanks for your help.

If you want to reset the remote look up how to do a factory reset in the manuals section of this website. The details will vary from remote to remote, but you hold down the setup (shift, magic, whatever) key until you see two blinks (about 2 seconds) then press 9 then 8 than 1. On the remotes that come with the 5000 series Replays, hold down the TV and Mute keys, then enter 9-8-1

Oh, right. Clean Upper Memory cleans memory that isn't being used. That's probably not what you're looking for. Purge memory will fill IR's buffer with FF's. If you upload that, your remote will assume that it's eeprom is corrupted and won't use it. Assuming you've already backed up your config, then you have nothing to use.bigblackdog wrote:The remote won't repond to any buttons. It just keeps flashing. That's why I was wondering about the "clean upper memory" or "purge memory" options in IR.
Thanks
Assuming this makes your remote wake up, you will want to do a 981 reset so the remote will use the eeprom again. You should get blink-blink, pause, blink-blink. Anything else means that the remote was unable to initialize the eeprom.
Just one more thing. You didn't solder in a new eeprom, right?
