My first post - I hope I'm in the right forum for this question. I have a Xfinity remote and I would like to assign one of the buttons in aux mode to switch the input on my pioneer reciever to sat/cbl. My remote is controlling the volume and power using the aux/30014 setup code. It seems like I need the extended function code (efc) that is entered manually into the remove using the 9-9-4 ... commands?

Can some provide the code or direct me to where it is available?

I couldn't find a code for InputSat/Cbl, so as a work-around plugged in my cable box into the video input then assigned InputVideo to a key. Is there a way to figure out the InputSat/Cbl code?

To do this yourself, just convert each byte in the remote control code on the spreadsheet from hex to dec. For example function BD has a code of A55C+A5C0. A5=165, 5C=92, A5=165, C0=192, resulting in Dev 165, OBC 92, OBC2 192. The next command DVD has a code of A585. A5=165 and 85=133, resulting in Dev 165, OBC 133 and no OBC2.

The one code I could not figure how to enter into RM is a function called MHL. It appears to be Dev OBC 165 19 plus Dev OBC 175 40. This is the pronto hex for that command, if anybody wants to take a crack at it:

I understand the hex to dec conversion, but I can't figure out how are coming up with the efc. I found the obc to efc tables, but the ones I found are for 3 digit efc's. What am I missing?

Sorry, when you answered you checked the file section, I assumed you meant you actually opened the files in Remote Master. It calculates the EFCs for you. So download and install Remote Master and the associated RDFs, Maps and Images. Then use it to open an upgrade file like THIS, which matches the protocol, device and subdevice you found in the lookup tool for setup code 31023 and already has most of the EFCs you found before. On the Setup tab, pick your remote model from the drop down. And on the Functions tab enter the Device, OBC and OBC2 for each function. The EFCs are calculated for you. If you buy an $8 JP1.3 cable, you can simply load all those codes into your remote without manually programming anything.

A really nice thing to do would be to create a new upgrade file starting with the one above, add your new codes and post it. That way, anyone else with your model receiver won't have to hunt for codes like you did. Oh, and please double check my work, as I could have some typos and mistakes. I don't have a Pioneer receiver myself to check.

Thanks, mdavej, this was very helpful in setting up my 15-2104 to work with a VSX-43.

When I learned codes from the remote to my 2104, many decoded as pairs with different device, OBC combinations. The Pioneer spreadsheet shows almost all of them are one device two OBC combos.

I was going down the road of the Mix protocol and maybe that is an alternative for the MHL. I don't have that in my mix so I didn't pursue it.
