Keymaster(812) & IR(401) vs key moves

Post by ElizabethD »

When I load a device file from yahoo into Keymaster then paste the info into IR and upload to remote, in IR I can clearly see key moves defined. I expected to see those in Key Master's key moves sheet, but all cells on that sheet are blank. On the buttons sheet, @keys apparently are keymoves. What am I not seeing/understanding correctly?

Actually, you interpreted it correctly.

When a device is created for a specific device type like TV KM determines which button are available for that device and flags the others as "not normal or base buttons". It does however, let you put functions on them and it makes them as keymoves for IR. The keymove tab is to create keymoves that invlove other devices or upgrades extenal to the current device.

Thanks a lot. I think I get what you're saying. I need to see some footprints to understand 100%. Will play some more.

When you look at the buttons listed in the Buttons sheet, do some of them have an "@" sign in front of them? If you assign a function to a button with an "@" sign in front of it, this will generate a keymove because this button is not part of the remote's keymap for this device mode.

Yes, I saw that clearly. But ere is where I imagined it would go to the keymoves worksheet. But I see that it's a different purpose.

The keymove worksheet is for functions you want assigned as keymoves in other device modes. For example, you might decide to use the M1 button as an all purpose input select button, then when you're setting up your stereo receiver in KM, you might use the keymove sheet to assign the various input select codes to the M1 button in each of the device modes.

You mean all I have to do is this ?!?!
If true, this is brilliant, thank you both. Also I can't resist stating how impressive IR and KeyMaster tools are. They don't even crash like much commercial software!

On the KeyMoves sheet in Keymaster.xls I now have this and It's got the be right, because it works for me: push device button, then push M3 and off we go.
Function Bound Device Bound Key
dvd DVD M3
cd CD M3
tuner (upgrade) M3
vcr VCR M3
tv TV M3
Even hex numbers filled themselves from the functions sheet.

Since all my devices use the same M3 button for switching receiver input, can we put some common code on the macro (I can think of lots, as I read the useful tidbits on this site)? Where does one go from here?
Is the limiting factor my imagination or hardware & software?
