|
|
I recently had my first experience with an unmodified Cable remote, and found the whole OK/Select thing was driving me nuts.
I wrote up some instructions on how to fix this problem via the Lookup tool and an EFC keymove.
http://www.getzweb.net/jp1/howto/fixcableOK/
Could some user review the text and make sure it is clear for the non-jp1 user.
Edit: I updated the HTML at midnight. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

here's two spelling typos for ya...
Unfortunaely = Unfortunately
becomcs = becomes
arrows should be arrow...
"Make sure the menu and arrows buttons work."
The number of instructions in the first image and the text below don't match, the text has an extra instruction #6.
I would suggest adding an additional line from the "Click on the EFCs link on the nine that doesn't have "n/a" in the access method column" instruction pointing to the Access Method column (to help the user find the column).
You should probably add something about how the user will need to do this for every device mode (ie, TV, DVD, Aux, etc).
It might be nice to have this in the Wiki too.
Otherwise I think it all looks good, but I guess we need a real beginner to read it to be sure! _________________ Rob

Vicky,
For the 1056B03 in TV mode, the OK/Select button sends a command to the TV and not to the cable box. So for most users of the 1056B03, the question is moot, because the remote does what most people want. |

Thanks 3fg. Now I'm wondering about that xfinity remote with the 2xxx signature.
I'm hoping UEI is not moving away from the 994 keymove! That is what makes these remotes so special. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

My guess is that the cable companies don't like the keymoves. I suspect that from their point of view, they just cause trouble. |
