Newbie... Help please.

I've searched the forum and the JP1 for Beginners book for these answers, but I'm just not getting it.

Would you please give me a good definition for these two terms I keep running across and, will they help me? ToadTog / Extenders

Background:
I recently purchased a URC8910 and a JP1 cable and have spent about a month trying to learn the software before I actualy plug it in and really screw things up. The most difficult device I need to program is my Sony SLV-D300P DVD/VCR combo, wich I can get the upgrade over the phone from One-For-All. And, I understand there are no discrete on/off codes for that device. Will the processes represented by those two terms be beneficial to me?

I suggest you learn to walk before you try to run. Try using the JP1 tools and give yourself time to get the hang of them before you jump into Toadtog or the extenders.

I'm an expert and I have a hard time understanding both of them!
