I have a Sylvania 37" LCD HDTV.

Sylvania LC370SS8, I think. I looked for that in the JP1 file section. I didn't see it. Clearly this is a foreign manufacturer who bought a US brand name, no relation to the old US brand Sylvania.

None of the remote codes I have tried work on my ReplayTV remote, and the purpose of this is to get that remote (it's JP1) working with it.

I can make a JP1 cable, no problem.
I posted on it here some time ago:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1337455/remote-code-for-sylvania-lcd-tv

Can anyone help?

Do you have any function remote for it (such as the OEM remote)? If so, you can learn signals from it to your JP1 and from there create an upgrade.

If you have no functioning remote for it at all, then it's going to be quite a challenge. =) If you've posted on AVS and now here, I assume that you've already scoured the web for any possible codes...I suggest you keep trying to find something.

Quick googles show that other people with the same TV were successfully able to teach commands to a universal remote via the learning feature. If you have OEM remote, teach some of the buttons to your JP1 (hope you have a learning one!) and make sure they work. If that all works, you'll have to get that JP1 cable made so you can download those learned signals and make a device upgrade (which will probably include you posting them on here so we can help you with that part).

Google is our friend. Here's a thread that says TV 1864 will work. The Lookup table tells us that is NEC1 132.224. JP1Master says that we have two upgrades (they're almost the same), both in the TV Combo file section that shoot this signal, so those would be a good place to start, unless your present remote has TV 1864.

I have the no-name OEM remote, no problem with that.

I was able to teach a Radio Shack remote the codes, but this thread is about getting the ReplayTV remote to work with that TV. I have tried each code in that remote, did the exhaustive code search, and tried everything that was suggested in the AVSforum thread.

I have to look at the ReplayTV 5000 .PDF manual, which unfortunately though it has the list of codes they are by brand. So it's kind of a fine print needle-in-a-haytack affair finding 1864. It's not a searchable PDF, darn it.

What brand would 1864 be under, if you know?

Thanks!

Emerson or Sylvania. But it is a recent code, and unlikely to have been included in the Replay5000. Make a JP1 cable, and then you'll be in business.

I just checked my list and very few remotes have any setup codes that use NEC1 132.224 and the R5k remote certainly doesn't have any matching codes, so loading an upgrade via JP1 is the only option with this remote.

We have 4 upgrades here that use NEC1 132.224, so any one of these would probably be a good start for your set.

Rob,
The upgrades are all the same, except the newest Combo has more DVD codes.

I didn't open them up and examine them myself, so thanks for the update Dave.

FYI, the Replay 5000 remote is included in the Lookup tool. This NEC combination is not present. I checked the combo protocols too.

So the 9628 has more dvd codes.

I don't have a dvd in the Sylvania Funai TV.

Is there any reason any particular one would be preferred? I don't need the dvd codes.

I am making a JP1 cable.

They're all the same, so pick one and then verify that it has all the buttons that you need.

I made a JP1 cable, downloaded RM and a whole pile of MAP and RDF files.

I started it and added the Sylvania file.

Sylvania 32inch LCD/DVD Combo LD320SS1
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=download&file_id=9628

Then I selected Replay 5000 remote.
I have a popup
Lost Key assignments

Channel up is now on page up.
Sound mode on Day +, but the replay 5000 remote has not Day +
mode is now help, but that remote has no help.
menu is now guide.

And more.
And a bunch of dvd specific codes.

What should I do?
This doesn't look right to me.

Looks like that upgrade doesn't translate over to the Replay 5000 well.
I tried this one and it seems to work better. You'll still need to assign a few buttons yourself.

Thanks. That has lots less errata.
But screen mode = guide.
I imagine that is a TV function and that TV doesn't have guide.
I guess that might not be important.
Is that your assessment? For the replaytv, guide is important.

The names listed in the upgrade are the descriptive names of functions. "Screen mode" presumably refers to a TV function which Sylvania/Emerson calls screen mode.

The user needs to assign the function "screen mode" to some button, but neither the Replay5000 remote nor the Comcast that the upgrade was originally made for have a button labeled screen mode. Evidently the person who made this upgrade decided to assign the function "screen mode" to the button labeled Guide. You're entitled to assign it to almost any button you like.

Do that on the Buttons or Layout tab.
