Need the JB.rdf brought in to line with the RV & PL.rdf

Post by Noirfire »

Hello,

I need help in creating a neww JB.rdf so we can bring it in line with the current RV.rdf and PL.rdf. The JB is used by PRO-HD's, US and non-US, there are also SOLO boxes which has JB chipset.

The up to date RV.rdf & PL.rdf;

The Old JB.rdf;

Is any one able to help me?

Thanks

It's not necessary, as the JB chip is compatible with the PL chip. I have been building and installing lots of BIN files on Pro-HDs and the PL.BIN files are accepted and work.

Hi Alan,

sorry to take so long to reply but from what I've gathered about this issue is;

1. The encryption algorithm is same for PL and JB chip, hence same RDF should work for both.

2. Since JB is newer chip, there is some difference in the protocol set used by PL and JB. Hence it is better to use JB RDF with JB chip.

Is it possible to get one or is it to much trouble?

Cheers

It isn't too much trouble, but you can do it just as easily as me. Just take the PL RDF file and renmame it to BINJB (Slingbox with UEI JB Chip).rdf and use a text editor to change the second line to Name=Slingbox with UEI JB Chip

I still think it's a pointless exercise :D

That is a good point, however getting the updated protocol info will be a challenge. I suspect that your best bet would be to create a JB RDF that is a clone of the PL RDF, then change the protocol info as you discover that the JB version is different to the PL.

No, we're talking about the section of the RDF that states which protocols (and sometimes which version of a protocol) are built into the remote chip.

That's not something you normally need to worry about because RM will take care of that for you, as it does for all remote users. If you select a protocol that isn't in the remote (or Slingbox) it will include a protocol upgrade in your upgrade.
