Problem with DIYGadget JP1 adapter

I have a DIYGadget JP1.2/1.3 USB Cable and JP1.2/1.3 to JP1 Adapter.
Installed software, computer (Windows 7-64 bit) recognizes "Prolific USB-to-serial COMM Port (Com5)" and cable works with JP1.3 remote and IR8.03.

I then connected JP1 Adapter, and connected to JP1 remote (that
works using old JP1 cable - parallel interface on old computer WinXP).
I get "check interface" OK, but when I try to "Download from Remote" I get error "JP12 read failed -1" and sometimes computer crashes.

Appreciate help with this.

1) Which download option do you have selected?

JP1.x
JP1 EEPROM
Auto Detect
Force <= 2k
Force >= 4k

2) Which JP1 remote are you using?

3) Do you have batteries in the remote, and if so, are the old or new?

1) JP1.x (It's the only choice not grayed-out)

2) Looks like I started with the ones that don't work:
Replay remotes (Replay/showstopper version 1) marked "replay" or "Panasonic" - both give the error message.

However the following JP1 remotes work fine:
Radio Shack 15-1994, 15-1995 and 15-2117.

3) Batteries in all remotes, new ones in replay/showstopper.

That fact that some remotes work proves that the cable and adapter work, so the question is what's up with the Replay remotes. The first thing that comes to mind is that use 2 batteries (ie, 3v) while all the working remotes use 4 (ie, 6v) but there's not much you can do about that.

Could be.
I also tried a replay remote that came with the replay 5000 series - it also uses 2 batteries & it gives the same error message.

Does anyone still sell a USB cable that works for JP1 (EEPROM) remotes?

Additional info:
I temporarily rigged one of my older Replay-Panasonic remotes with 4 batteries. Remote still functions normally.

However, using IR8.03 as before, interface check works fine, but "Download From Remote" still yields error "jp12 read failed -1".

Has anyone in the Forum used the DIYGadget JP1.2/1.3 USB Cable and JP1.2/1.3 to JP1 Adapter with the old Replay remotes?

Why don't you open a support ticket with DIY to see if he has any input on this.

I've done that - waiting for reply.

Sadly, the guys at DIYGadget do not know why their device doesn't work on the replay remotes.

Also they have no stock of the older "JP1 (EEPROM) USB Cable", and unless a forum member has one for sale, I seem to be out of luck.
