I was trying to connect a remote URC 11-7557 R00 to my computer and RM.
I am using Tommy's JP1.2/3 USB connector, a connection seems to occur and there is a fair amount of green and red led flashing on the connector
I get an error message saying that a suitable RDF file must be found see below. I have the latest RDF files.
How would I go about finding or creating such a file to make further progress.
Many thanks
Tony

RMIR Message:
No definition file could be found for this remote (10751075), so the data cannot be interpreted for you. Please verify that your RDF path (on the File menu) is pointing to the directory where your RDF files reside. If that is set correctly then you should download the most current RDF zip from the Tools area of the JP1 Files section to see if an RDF for your remote has been added.

Well, the 1.32 distribution of the RDFs contains two RDFs with signature 10751075. These are for the 7555 and 7556. Either will work (mostly) for your remote. So it seems likely that either you don't have the latest version of RDFs or RM is pointed to a different older set of RDFs.

I definitely have the most uptodate RDF files. Another clue may be when I try to run RM IR I get a very long series of error messages starting with :-

Java.language.exception.Syntax error at line 172 in 10751075 (URC -7555 OFA5).rdf

there are many many error messages in this block but when I click ok at the bottom I get the select remote drop down box. Another ok produces a lot of action on the usb connector LED's which suggest a download is taking place but then nothing different appears on the RM IR screen, it just looks the same as if no download from the remote had taken place.
Any help much appreciated
Tony

Good, that clears it up. That RDF file has an error, which RMIR is telling you about.
Edit the file and place a blank line between the 333 and [SetupCodes] so that it looks like
Code:
333

[SetupCodes]

Thanks very much that seems to have solved that problem. A download from the remote now takes place.
I am a bit lost as to why I cannot save the downloaded version as a precaution. The save as option is greyed out.
Many thanks to 3FG for your help.

Is it grayed out if you do a File\New\RemoteImage? Or only if you download first?

Either way, look at the file rmaster.err. It has a lot of debugging information. Look near the bottom of the file.

Nice timing.

I got a 7557 at Xmas and just got Tommy's interface last week.

I was getting the same errors.

I will test that updated RDF tonight

Ok,

so the new RDF appears to partially work.
No more java errors, but the General Tab did not initially display
any thing after the "Download from remote".
After checking the other tabs and going back I have 5 devices listed.

However, I can't save that data.

So I'm confused. the rmaster.err file contains:
Code:
ERROR: ButtonMap 0 includes unknown keycode $30, Creating button!
ERROR: ButtonMap 0 includes unknown keycode $18, Creating button!
Warning: Shape defined for unknown button Paly
However, the new (and old) 7555 RDF do not have $30 in ButtonMap 0, and it does have $18 and $30 defined. Neither it nor the .map file have Play misspelled.

Are you sure that you're really using the 1.32 image/map files? And did you really use the newly posted RDF?

Dave (3FG), these three lines in the .err file are very mysterious. I think they occur for all remotes, they certainly occur for the Atlas 1056B03 that you and I are currently using, and there's no "Paly" anywhere in either the RDF or the RMIR source code. I have no idea where they come from.

I downloaded the new one, renamed the old one to
10751075 (URC-7555 OFA5).rdf.orig and dropped the new one in.
When I do a diff on the files, I can see the extra blank line in the new one.

When I used the old one, I got the java errors when attempting
to download from the remote. With the new one, I don't get any java errors.

The two folders I have for RDFs and MAPs are
"RDFs required for RM-IR and IR - Version 1.32"
"Maps and Images required for RM-IR - Version 1.32"
just unzipped the files and pointed RMIR at the folders.

The save option is greyed out for the 7557

Additional info:
I also have a URC-7781, and I am able to download and upload to it.
I'm only just starting to dabble with JP1, so still learning.
My goal is to be able to backup and swap devices (learned from my OEM remotes)
between the two. I got some custom WAV codes from OFA for the 7781 that I want
to copy to the 7557.

"Paly" occurs in this map file:

#$EOH
default URC-60260
rect Stop 57,230 95,246
poly Paly 58,248 65,263 71,267 82,267 89,262 96,248 58,248 58,248
poly FF 117,219 117,242 106,256 100,260 97,257 100,245 100,227 117,219 117,219

I guess RMIR must parse all the files at start up.
I changed that Paly to Play and don't see that error message now.

but these two still occur
ERROR: ButtonMap 0 includes unknown keycode $30, Creating button!
ERROR: ButtonMap 0 includes unknown keycode $18, Creating button!

I might try getting rid of all RDFs except the 7555 one.

Next test:

Created a maps and rdf folder with only
10751075 (URC-7555 OFA5).rdf and
URC-7555 and 7556 maps

Pointed RM to those folders instead

Then I tried to load my RAW data from the 7557
(Don't have the remote and jp1 interface with me now)

err file end section:

Did anything ever come of this? I'm thinking of getting a 7557 to replace my 7555 since the print on the buttons is wearing out.
