JP1 Remotes

A friend asked me to clone the remote for his image projector.

Projector model: NEC VT-670
Remote model: NEC RD-443E
38 button remote

I successfully read all the buttons but am stumped with the 48-NEC1 protocol that was learned. I tried using 48 as the parameter in RM and KM but after a few tries realized something I was doing was wrong. I did remember to input the device and sub-device numbers.

Protocol: 48-NEC1
Device 24
Sub-Device 233

There are a few NEC Projector files on our site that appear similar with NEC1 protocol but I haven't yet had a chance to try them out. Tests have to be scheduled with the person in charge of the projector so it's a bit of a pain.

I need help, if anyone has a suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.

Found a match and recorded the IR signals with the JP1 tools to create the respective files.

eferz' files show an IR protocol of NEC1 device 24.233. That is typical for NEC projectors. Your decodes show NEC-48 device 24.233. It is reasonable to believe that something has gone awry in your learns and/or the subsequent decoding.

I'm currently maintaining DecodeIR.dll and so I'm interested in seeing your learned signals. Perhaps it will be possible to tighten up the decoding algorithm. Please post your IR or RMIR file. Are you using version 2.43 of DecodeIR?

Edited to Add: Nevermind, one of our projectors at work is a NEC (not sure of the model, but the remote is RD-448E). I brought the remote home and it is clearly shooting 48-NEC1 device 24.233. So I don't need your IR file. I am curious to know if your projector will respond to standard NEC1 signals. I plan to test our work projector tomorrow.

Our work projector is a V300X (also V260X, V230X, V260/V230, or V300/260W share the same manual), and it does respond to NEC1 device 24.233. So eferz' rmdu file works for functions which are common to the two projectors.

The manual says that the projector and remote can be set up to have ID numbers ranging from 1 to 254, using the ID set button. So 48-NEC1 facilitates the ID number: 8 bits of device, 8 bits of subdevice, 8 bits of functions, 8 bits of the function complement, 8 bits of ID, and 8 bits of ID complement. An ID of 0 is default.

So, I'm curious on the prognosis. If my upgrade files do not work, how can MaximusPlank recreate the signals since there's no apparent 48-NEC1 protocol available?

Not hard to write. However, we have little reason to think it would be needed. The LHD database says the upgrade will work, and I showed that a different model NEC projector, which has an OEM remote that shoots 48-NEC1, also responds to ordinary NEC1 signals.

Seems pretty likely that eferz' upgrade will work.
