I use a macro setup my 5100 HD cable box. Last command is "PVR" which is the cable box itself. This works, as buttons are now controlling the cable box, but I have VPT enabled and on for PVR. But volume punch-through (VPT) isn't working. Using vol+/- keys control the cable box volume instead. When I push "PVR" button manually, then VPT starts working -- the vol keys control my receiver the way it should.

Isn't this odd? VPT is disabled for any device used as the last command in a macro? VPT apparently only works on devices when you physically push a devicekey.

Anyone else seen this behavior?

This is not normal. My best guess is that you've made some other error in your programming, but we would need to see your IR.exe file in order to try and spot it.

Just FYI, next time rather than posting the IR code here in a thread, please post the complete dump in a file in the Diagnosis Area and then post a link to it. The easier you make it for us to help you, the more likely we are to do it.

Anyway, the reason VPT is not working is easy, you have changed the device mode of the PVR button, from being a "VCR" type button to a "CBL" type button. It is well established that if you do this, you break VPT in that mode.

So the bigger question is why VPT works when you manually press PVR!

The solution is to either (a) re-program the volume buttons with keymoves, or (b) create an upgrade for your cable box using VCR mode.

Sorry about that! I looked for a file upload button but didn't know it was only active in diagnosis area.

Didn't know about the VPT limitations, thanks for enlightening me.

Decided to use the 6131 extender instead.

PS I was wrong about manually pushing PVR, that didn't activate VPT.
