Dumb question re Keymap Master

I've been using KM for years, usually with my RS 2116s and the OFA-9910.
A while back I also picked up a RS-1995, which I programmed with a few devices, which went OK.
Yesterday, however, I decided to put another device on the 1995, and to make the layout appear as similar as possible to my 2116 remotes, I wanted to put a function on the "ESCAPE" button. Loaded the device file into KM, and went to the button page, and there is no ESCAPE button listed for the 1995. I checked in the layout tab, thinking that it may only be available in certain device types, but it wasn't in any type. I looked at a couple copies of the RDF files for that remote, and they DO list the ESCAPE button.
Confused, I then realized that I didn't know where the KM spreadsheet got the button layouts. I guess I always assumed that it got it from the RDF files, but then I realized that I never was asked where to find the files, so I guess they must be hard coded.
It seems strange that a remote as old as the 1995 wouldn't have the buttons listed properly, so it occurred to me that maybe there were different versions of this remote, or perhaps this button is not one that IR functions can be put on, but a button that provides an escape from remote functions???
Anyway, what am I missing here? It's not a big deal, because I can put the functions on other buttons, but I'm just real curious why the layout doesn't have that particular button?

ALSO, in case there is anyone out there that uses this remote, does anyone know how to use the X-10 automation functions? I have the manual, but it doesn't have ANY useful info. I entered the code for X-10, but there doesn't seem to be any way to select a house code or unit ID, etc. Anyway, it doesn't seem to work for some reason. Also not a big deal, because I have other devices to send the X-10 commands. I'm just curious how it's supposed to work on this remote.

Thanks.

The ESCAPE button is *only* used to exit the LCD programming mode, you can't assign a function to it using an upgrade or a keymove.

The HOME/0167 code included in the remote is designed to work with an IR543 box. I'm guessing that you thought the IR extender box that comes with the 15-1995 would perform the same function, but that is not the case.

OK... thanks for both parts. Strange that they'd put a button you can't use in normal operation right in the middle of regular buttons, instead of up by the program button.

Re the X-10 thing, yes, I thought that the command center box did the X-10 stuff. I was about to open it up to see if there were switches inside. The manual said that additional hardware was needed, but I thought that meant the actual X-10 switches, etc.
Oh well, not important. I was just curious.
Thanks.

It was not an unreasonable assumption because older UEI remotes, like the Radio Shack 15-1919 had an IR extender box that *did* also function as an X10 (IR543) box.

As for the positioning of the ESCAPE button, I completely agree with you. However, the good news is that there is an extender for the 15-1995. I'm not familiar with the specifics of this extender, but I am assuming that, among other things, it will let you re-program the ESCAPE button to do whatever you want.
