I want to create a new version of the official GI 4DTV protocol which doesn't calculate the checksum, but instead asks the user to enter it as a 2nd OBC column.

The official protocol uses 2 bytes of variable data, each of 6 bits. The first 6 bits of the 1st byte is the OBC (lsb). The next 2 bits are zeroes. The first 2 bits of the 2nd byte are the unit code, the next 4 are the checksum and the last 2 are zeroes.

It isn't obvious to me why you would want to do that, so maybe I've misunderstood. Anyway.....

Code:
[GI4DTVRob]
PID=00 A4
DevParms=Unit Code:2=0
CmdParms=OBC:6=0, OBC2:4=0
CmdTranslator=Translator(comp,lsb,0,6) TranslatorFromDev(comp,lsb,0,2,8) Translator(comp,lsb,1,4,10)
DefaultCmd=00 00

Because I've come across a remote that uses the 4DTV protocol, but with a different checksum (it's the complement of what it should be).

Thanks for the code Dave, I'll give it a try.
