How do you get a device code when you know the protocol, device, etc. of the original remote? I am trying to find a code for the Toshiba 32C100U TV to enter in my DirecTV RC65RX remote (It's a UEIC right? You just prefix a '1" to the usual 4-digit code, right?) Using a JP1 learning remote, I have found that the protocol is NEC1 and Device is 64 (no sub-device). Using the most recent devices.xls spreadsheet, I filtered down for Dev Mode = TV, Protocol = NEC1, and dev1 = 64. That gave me about a dozen codes to try and none of them worked. The funny thing is, I could have sworn I had this working sometime in the past until I changed around remotes or reset something (I can't remember). So..., is there some straightforward way to get from Protocol/Device to UEIC code? Thanks.

You're on the right track. Be sure to also select blanks for the sub-device column and then scroll to the right to find the column for the RC65 and just filter the rows that have a "Y" in that column.

TV/0156 is the most common setup code for Toshiba TVs, and this one is on the list generated by devices.xls, so I would start with that one if I were you.

If that doesn't work, post some of the OBCs that you captured for buttons like POWER and VOL +/- and we can check if they're also a match.

Also, keep in mind that "it didn't work" is about the most useless statement possible in the JP1 world because we always need to know WHAT didn't work. In other words, was it (a) the remote accepted the code but it didn't work your TV or (b) the remote rejected the code?

Thanks for the feedback. At least I know now that I'm not missing something obvious. Maybe it will be better if I try to find a working code in a One For All remote first, then try the DirecTV remote.

According to the on line manual,
Directv RC65 PDF

Your remote has the following Toshiba TV Codes:
11524*, 10154, 10156*, 11256*,
10060, 12006, 11945, 11936,
11935, 11918, 11704, 11656*,
11635*, 11369, 11356*, 11343,
11325, 11306*, 11156*, 10845*,
10832, 10822*, 10650, 10149,
10148, 10036, 11971*

Those are standard UEI remote codes, no offset, so you should be able to compare these to the NEC1 64 setup codes and find one pretty easily.

I see 1524, 0156,1256,1635,1356,1306, 1156,0845, 0822 and 1971 are Nec1 64 codes, so make sure to try them all for a best fit.

Try code 12006. Many with white directv remotes use the TV ON & OFF keys to determine if the code works or not, forgetting all other keys.

Thanks very much for taking the time to post all of that info.

I discovered that the code is 11524. I had tried this many times before. The method that DirecTV has you use is to press Vol+ to test a code. That's what I had usually done. This time I pressed a "1" and it worked. It had finally dawned on me that maybe a volume punch-through was set. I entered a Mute-Select-993 and the volume keys also started working. I can't believe it was that simple/stupid.
