Quote:
1. Device: "DVICO MCE remote control with USB IR receiver (DVICO-REMOTE)"
2. Type of device: USC PC control
3. Year: recent
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: RCA RCRP05B
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? yes
6. Still have original remote? yes, but it's broken
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? no
10. Learning remote question? n/a
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? ???

These items are virtually brand new. I bought them this week, then realized that JP1 would not support my receiver (original remote is dead), so am stuck with them (and a very angry wife).

USB JP1 cable from DIYGadget.com - Paid $29.99, will sell for $20 shipped.

RCA RCRPO5B - Still have original box and manuals. Remote has maybe 15 total key presses on it. Paid $16.18 from Amazon, will sell for $12 shipped.

URC-WR7 7 Device Remote - Not a JP1, but a review on Amazon mistakingly led me to believe it was. Paid $19.99 from Amazon, will sell for $15 shipped.

Will discount if you buy them all.

What steps did you follow in order to come the conclusion that JP1 would not support your receiver? I don't see any posts from you on the subject.

Thank you for the response.

My goal was to replace a broken DVICO FusionRemote. I used the jp1-master spreadsheet to find all RDFs of the same make, and additional ones to test afterward. I used RM / IR to load the codes, but none had any affect The original remote is completely dead so I can't learn the codes from it.

I did spend about 12 hours so far working on it, trying different combinations, trying custom codes. But the lack of any progress, and the lack of anyone who has even seen this receiver has led me to try another avenue of solutions.

So the DVICO Fusion file that we have in the file section didn't work?

For this particular one, no, unfortunately. But there are a variety of Fusion remotes. I believe mine is commonly known as the MCE FusionRemote. I wish I could read the codes from it to add to the site, but I can't get it to respond to any button presses.

Your Dvico remote sure looks like a UEI Atlas remote, does it have a 6-pin JP1 connector in the battery compartment? If it does, even if the remote doesn't work, there's a chance that you can still read it's memory using your JP1 cable and that might tell us which code it uses.

What is the exact model number of your Dvico device?

The original store receipt shows "DVICO MCE remote control with USB IR receiver (DVICO-REMOTE)".

The receiver and remote both say "FusionREMOTE" in purple. There are no other markings on either, nor under the battery cover. There is no JP1, just a blank area where one would normally go (not even any raw connectors to solder to).

A shame, this was my favorite remote Smile It included a graphical PC app to program any button to any keyboard press, perfect for my HTPC.

The MCE in the title might be a big clue, try this upgrade...

This looks suspiciously like a UEI remotes, and they tend to be really rugged.

How dead is the OEM remote? No LED or no signal?

If you put in fresh batteries, does it work for a moment or two?

Do ANY keys work flash the LED?

If so, have you checked the IR output of the OEM remote with a digital camera (the one in your phone will do)?

If you could capture even one key, this would give us something to go with.

If the ir doesn't emit, but the LED flashes, this remote might be able to blink back the code in use.

Thanks again for the responses. I tried that MCE map, but it doesn't work as well. The original remote is completely non-responsive. It was working up until a few weeks ago, but unusable as a few critical keys were dead. I tested each and every key and it is emitting no signal nor flashing the LED from any. Even immediately after changing batteries. I blame my toddler for that Smile

I may have luck here soon. I did find a replacement remote that was listed with a generic name but the pictures match. Once it arrives I'll attempt to learn the codes off of it to upload here, and then sell the JP1 equipment.

Good news, I found a web page that refers to the same remote that you're using (in fact, they link to the exact same picture, funnily enough) and they have a LIRC file there, so I should be able to derive the codes from that. (I can't do it now as the file is blocked from my current location, so I'll have to do it at home, unless someone posts the contents).

Here's the page:

Rurik, I have moved this thread to the Code Search forum, which is more appropiate for it now, and I've added the code search template to your original post. If you still want to sell your JP1 stuff, by all means start a new post in the Market Place forum.

When filling out the template, I was reminded to try the Lookup Tool, so I did and it suggested CBL/1714 as a possible DVICO setup code, and the particulars of that code do not match the upgrade files that you probably tried, so it might be worth a try.

I don't believe CBL/1714 is in the RCRP05B 31793179. It is in the Atlas 30003000 though.

I found another lircd.conf file over here and this one has several different entries. The lircd.conf I previously posted is listed as DVICO Dual Fusion and not MCE. I'm not familiar with MCE so I'm hoping someone can translate this into the MCE fixed/var data. It seems to be 64-bits total with 48-bits fixed and 8-bits var data and then 8-bits post fixed data. I've copied the MCE version here:
Code:
