On trying to run either Rmir or Remote Master, I get a error box titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" that states "Could not find the main class. Program will exit."
I'm assuming that I did something wrong while installing, but don't know what or how to fix it!
How do I uninstall and start over? (Or is there some way to fix what's there?)
Running on an old Dell Dimension L800r running Win98 SE.
Any and all help appreciated!!

Harvey, Do you have Excel on your Win 98 machine? If so KM and IR might be a better choice.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try and check it out.vickyg2003 wrote:Harvey, Do you have Excel on your Win 98 machine? If so KM and IR might be a better choice.
I copied this inquiry over to the "Software" forum and it looks like RMIR/Remote Master is a dead end because the latest version of Java isn't supported on Win98.
I was trying to use the old '98 box because all my newer machines lack a parallel port.

I think I heard that RMIR will run under Linux, I wonder if it will run under Puppy Linux. I've been playing with Puppy Linux on a seriously old laptop with very little resources. I see there is a Java Pet that might be able to run RM. Puppy Linux was pretty cool, boots from a CD and leaves your Windows intact.
Hmm, some of the posts from this thread seem to be missing, or I am just totally losing it.

Yes, Puppy IS cool, and pretty amazing at finding/using hardware! Put Puppy on an USB stick for a nice portable tool for bringing up boxes that Windoze has corrupted.vickyg2003 wrote:I think I heard that RMIR will run under Linux, I wonder if it will run under Puppy Linux. You aren't missing posts; I posted this same question to "Software" https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13200
when no-one answered after several days.
Oh! So many cool things to try and so little time to do it
