Hi all,

Picked up the oldie OFA URC-7040 recently (JP1 compatible), and now trying to program it to control one of my home devices. It appears that I need to use the JP1 interface, as none of the in-built codes seem to work. That's OK - I have the required JP1 upgrade for that appliance, but it was created for URC8910.
So, my task now is to convert that upgrade to URC7040-compatible one and then to load it into the URC7040 remote.

OK, I searched these forums and found the RDF for URC-7040 HERE. Now the IR recognises the dump from the remote and also can upload. So far, so good.

The problem that I am having now is that the URC-7040 does not appear in the available device list for either RM or KM, despite one of the Rob's posts HERE says "then in RM change the remote to the URC-7040 ".

I am confused. How do I change it to URC-7040 in RM or KM if it's not listed? Can the URC-7040 device be added to the list?
If it can not - what other device can I select in those programs in order to make the output compatible with URC7040, so I can just paste the output into the IR with URC-7040 RDF loaded?

Thanks,
:-DS

I did what you did, I downloaded the URC-7040 RDF and saved it into my RDF folder, then fired up RM and the 7040 was available in the drop down.

I can't vouch for how good the RDF is though as it doesn't look like it was ever finished.

HERE's a new RDF, Map and Image in order for the URC-7040 to fully work in RM.

DS,

You may have 2 RDF folders where IR is pointing to the one with your 7040 RDF and RM is pointing to the one without it. You should point both programs to the same spot. You need to replace your RDF with mine and copy the map and image (JPG) into the Maps and Images folder RM is looking for. I had to change a button name to keep RM from crashing.

Thanks guys, I am sorted now. It all works.

mdavej was right - my RM and IR were pointing to different RDF dirs.

Also, mdavej, it appears that the "AV" (aka "20") and "-/--" (aka "10") buttons in your RDF above are swapped around - I had to swap the function assignment for them in order to get the correct functioning. But that's a minor detail.

Thanks again for your prompt and efficient help.

Regards,
:-DS

Great. I updated the RDF per your correction. You can download it again and swap your buttons back.
