1. Device: Kenwood VR-6070
2. Type of device: Audio receiver
3. Year: ?
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: RCA RCRP05B - I think it is JP1
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Did not understand how to use files
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Did not understand
9. Partially working setup code? Yes
10. Learning remote question? ?

I've tried all Kenwood codes from the manuals and from the code list on this site, but the remote only turns the device on/off. No other functions work. I've tried code search but stopped after a few hundred with no results. I've searched all over this site, but I don't understand everything.

All I really want it to do is control the volume on the receiver. Can someone please at least point me in the right direction. Thanks.

If you press AUD then one of the VOL buttons, which device buttons light up (TV or AUD)? Which code worked for turning it on and off?

TV lights up when the VOL buttons are pressed, but no other functions for the receiver work either. I tried holding down the AUD button while pressing the VOL buttons but that didn't work. Most of the codes allow work to turn the Kenwood on/off.

Press AUD, hold Setup for 2 blinks, 993, VOL+ (4 blinks). If that doesn't fix it, post back.

After entering 933, AUD blinks twice, only 1 blink after VOL+

it still only changes vol of TV

The RCA RCRP05B VPT and channel lock work differently from most UEI remotes, and from its own instruction sheet.
See this thread.
To make Audio the VPT device,
1. PRESS Setup until 2 blinks.
2. TAP 9 9 3. Two blinks.
3. TAP Vol+
4. TAP the Audio button. Two blinks.

If desired, you can setup more involved VPT arrangements, as detailed in the above thread
