1. Device: XDR-F1HD
2. Type of device: HD radio tuner
3. Year: I don't know
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: 7800,6131,8910,Atlas,RCRP05B
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? yup
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? totally working made from learns
10. Learning remote question? no
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? yes

I'm on a quest to find discretes for Sony XDR-F1HD HDtuner for two things: power, of course, and display brightness. Sony20 protocol, device 26, sub 19.
None of my IRscope-learned OEM remote codes that might give me discreteON, for instance, such as press scan or Preset or tune or menu... turn it on.

My list totally matches this file by jetstar52:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=7156
RM upgrade for Sony XDR-S1, has few extra functions, which don't work here, and still no discretes
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6484
A section of the Sony site here also offered no clues
http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_hdradio.htm
And no discretes that I can see in the LookupTool for every item with Sony20 in the list.

Over at RC there seems to be no answer about discretes
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-sony/thread.cgi?8626
so I suspect thre aren't any.

My question: having once destroyed a piece of gear by the 0-255 code search, I got jitters.
So few questions - is there any point in testing OBC>127?
Any chance Sony arranges things in groups, if so which codes might go together?

This box has a RESET button. Would that rescue me if I ended up in some service menu with no way out?

Liz, I did the exhaustive 0-255 search on that piece of gear and never found any discretes. The good news is, that failure drove me to learn toadtog (with the patient help of the jp1 geniuses here).

Thanks, jetstar52. I did the first 32 after posting, found nothing. You saved me lots of work Smile

Hey, does that box run so hot that you can cook a chicken on it? Twisted Evil

I do most of my grilling on my power amp, and leave the tuner for keeping dinner rolls warm.

Seriously, I hadn't noticed excessive heat from the unit, so I left it on for a few hours to check. It was a little warm, not uncomfortably so, and only around the vents at the rear.
