JP1 Remotes

I've created a device upgrade for the Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray and added it to an Atlas OCAP 1056 black. If I open the rmir file for the Atlas first and then the rmdu for the Sony, the device combiner devices are repeated multiple times in the RemoteMaster DeviceCombiner tab. Saving the rmdu saves the multiple copies. If I open the rmdu first and then the rmir the device combiner devices are not repeated.

Also, in the RM IR window I cannot get the DVD button to indicate a DVD device even though the upgrade is a DVD. It always shows VCR.

This is the JAVA version of RemoteMaster on a CentOS 5.5 Linux system with JRE 1.6.0_21, RDF1.31, and Maps1.31

Possible RMIR bug aside, there's no reason to use a device combiner at all for your upgrade. Sony combo can do it all. HERE's the sony combo version. If you're like me and never use that one oddball Sony15 function (Theater), the S350 upgrade is simpler and smaller.

Didn't know there was a Sony Combo. I was using this upgrade as a learning tool. The upgrade you posted works great; the combiner problem is gone because it's no longer used.

The problem with not being able to to make the DVD device type DVD is still there. I have to left-click multiple times rapidly to get a drop down menu then select DVD but when the menu goes away the device type still shows as VCR.

I can't look at your RMIR file at the moment, but I can tell you that DVD and VCR are equivalent device types in the JP1 world, so it's technically not a problem. However, your drop down choice should stick. It could be the way RMIR parses the list, using the last device type 2 (which is the same for DVD and VCR) that it comes to in the RDF. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

To avoid this problem in my RDFs, I usually combine like device types into one, like DVD/VCR instead of 2 separate entries. Maybe we should adopt a standard like this to avoid confusion.

In any case, although it doesn't look right, your file is OK.
