JP1.2/3 Interface Trouble

I just finished making the JP1.2/3 serial interface (Feb 10, 2009 version, as corrected) for my URC-8820 B00 and my 15-100 remotes. The JPxTEST.exe does not see either one.

com_test.exe produces the following:
RTS on/off gives two blinks on either remote.
Loop back test produces the transmitted characters in the Received Chars: window when pressing F1.

I have checked the wiring a couple of times and replaced the 2N2222s and diodes but still no joy.

Any thoughts where I should look further?

Went ahead anyway and used IR to download info from the 8820. Seemed to be OK. Still puzzled why JPxTEST.exe does not communicate with the remotes. Maybe its a Windows 2K (where the serial port resides) thing. Wasted a bunch of time and extra work because of that.
