2010 vers of Nyko Blu Wave with sony20 protocol

I just received my new Nyko Blu Wave remote for the PS3 and loaded in the upgrade to my URC 8810 from the file section here. Thought I did something wrong because it wouldn't work. I tried everything and decided to start learning codes off the Nyko. I am up to 8 keys now and they are not the NEC but instead Sony20 protocol.

Example:
Up arrow - sony20, 26,73, 121, 9E, 190

Before I spend a lot of time trying to map all this out, is there a file from this remote anywhere that I can load into RM that handles this new Nyko & IR dongle for the PS3? I looked at the Madkatz PS3 and I am not sure what that is but it doesn't look like a Myko mapping and my Nyko setup did not come with a HDMI switch (not sure what a Madkatz is). I am assuming that the Nyko remote for PS3 wrapper is surrounding a totally different device these days.

You might want to try Video 1533 from the Lookup Tool. That device/subdevice Up Arrow EFC matches that code. Its worth a shot.

Sorry I don't use this programming suite but very rarely due to a slow upgrade path for electronics due to a small pocketbook these days, so I am not familiar with how to get to where you have suggested. I cannot find a program or tool named Lookup or a device upgrade named Video 1533. Thanks.

The link to the Lookup Tool page is at the top of this page. When you get there, do a "by Setup Code" search for Video 1533. In the results, click EFCs to get the list of commands.

But it will probably be much quicker to simply learn the rest since you've already done half of them. Your 8810 doesn't have that Video 1533 setup code anyway.

The Mad Catz HDMI switcher was a gizmo (I don't think Mad Catz makes them anymore) that was styled to snap onto a PS3. I picked it up at a Gamestop on clearance for $20. It would do three things:

1. It was an IR receiver that plugged into a PS3 USB port and passed many Sony DVD codes to the PS3. I tried a whole range but only the DVD codes acted on the PS3. I could imagine it would have its own codes that it then translated into something passed onto the USB port, but it seemed to use the same codes as a Sony DVD.

2. It was a 3 to 1 HDMI/optical switch with its own codes.

3. It had two auxiliary cooling fans, which I think it needed because it blocked the PS3's own vents. Just guessing.

So while it might be possible to use it I'm guessing just a Sony DVD code would work and you could keep the dongle and toss the remote.

The Lookup Tool is a link at the top of the page.

If you lookup video/1533 you'll see it uses Sony20 26.73

It will give you a list of EFC's that are used with this setup code on various remotes. You can use these EFC's for a starting point.

These are just a starting point. You'll still need to learn some codes from your OEM remote. Make sure to post your upgrade when you get it completed. Then we'll have a better answer for the next person who asks about this device.

I just compared these codes to those listed on the Sony site for this device code and they match:

Thanks everyone. I decided it would be best to just use the 8810 to learn all the codes from the new Sony20 protocol Nyko Ps3 Blu Wave Model 83041-P37 (release date 2010) (equipped with new body style & PS3 IR dongle). I opened the file containing old style Nyko Blu Wave that used the NECx protocol using RM and overlaid all the same functions with the new Sony20 protocol & EFC numbers. I also added mapping the Exit key to the HOME key on the new style remote. (HOME may or may not have been on the old style Tyko but regardless, there was no Home key mapped in the old style Nyko PS3 device upgrade so I added it. All keys off the new remote have been mapped now that Home has been added.)

Works well on my URC 8810 - Enjoy!
