Pixel Magic 3600D code?

Post by tanww888 »

Hi,

I just got a Pixel Magics System MTV3600D. Anyone has the code? If not, how do I convert the code from Logitech remote? Thanks for any help!

You'd need an IR Widget like Alan Richey. He downloads the IR codes from the Harmony Database, then he teaches the IR codes to his computer via IR Widget through IR.exe. Finally, he creates a remote update bin with RemoteMaster.exe. The entire process is detailed in his How To document in the File Section.

Okay, I'm confused. Isn't this what the beta remote is supposed to do for tanww888? Since tanweight has a remote that can control the mtv3600, assuming that the mtv3000 device doesn't do the trick, and assuming that Alan wouldn't do the learns, can't we just pull the information from the sling log?

An IRWidget is a cool tool to have for finding out what kind of signal is being sent, but I thought the new beta remote thing was another answer for the user without a Widget.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Pixel Magic 3600D code?

Post by tanww888 »

Hi Vicky and Alan,

Thanks for all your replies. I'll try to get the IR Widget.

Alan, the MTV3000 codes works OK, but still missing some of the functions. MTV5000D's remote is exactly the same as MTV3600D and it can be found in the Logitech database. Or how do I send you the Logitech IR codes?

Thanks,

Johnny

Did you know that before posting your original post? If so, it would have been a good idea to include that info. What buttons are missing from the MTV3000 file?

The user who created the MTV3000 file has sent me a more complete RM file for it, which I have loaded here:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5658

It looks like it includes all the missing buttons, but some of them are not labeled properly (ie, they're just labeled "INPUT01", etc).

So, could you please try this file and verify that all the buttons are there and could you list what each of the "INPUT" buttons really do so I can update the file. I suspect that 4 of them are the coloured buttons.

Actually I appear to have a fully working copy of the MTV3000 in my RM work area, with all the buttons properly labeled. No idea why I haven't uploaded it. It's in the RM section now

tamww888: If you need the BIN files built from this let me know. Or if it doesn't work and you want a proper 3600 version let me know.

You are quite correct, but I think tanww888 may not be aware of that web site, and as it happens, at the moment, like most of the Sling servers, it isn't working properly.

Also eferz reply, whilst factually correct, wasn't the right answer to the actual asked. The proper answer is:

"You cannot get the codes out of a Logitech Remote. The only time it is useful is for people like me who are building remotes for other people and do not have access to the original remote. In that case, I can then use it to 'mimic' the original remote. In your case, assuming you have the original remote for the 3600 the Logitech Harmony is of no use on getting codes."

Cheers

How do people find out about the beta sling website, and what do they need besides a slingbox to gain access to that site?

There are plenty of posts in the support forum about Betaremotes website. If someone asks then someone will chime in the URL. Alan even has a pseudo "sticked" post about it, http://answers.slingbox.com/thread/3300

Its as easy as going to the URL, "http://betaremotes.slingbox.com". I even wrote up a wiki describing how to use it, "http://slingbox.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_u ... s_website." Unfortunately, they are currently having site problems which doesn't allow you to get past the inital webpage. So, I'm only about 98% complete.

Also, there's specific requirements that limits the functionality to Window users with particular Slingbox models.

I suppose not all slings are capable of learning.

The original 'Classics' were not fitted with an IR sensor to learn signals. It was only when they realised how stupid that was that they starting fitting them to later models.

Should also point out that it is called 'betaremotes'. The fact that it has been in beta for months now and never gone official speaks volumes :-)

It's not compatible with the AV or Tuner either. It's limited to the most recent "Pro, Solo, and Pro-HD" models as far as I know.

Yup, your file has all the functions, with the right labels. I have used it to replace the original file.
