URC7556 in strange / undocumented blinking episode

Post by matthewbloch »

Hi there - this seems like a basic question, about a JP1 remote, but I've not attached a cable to it yet. I have a URC7556 One For All remote, and after reprogramming a bit after moving house, it has started to behave oddly.

Every other button push, whether a mode select or button push, causes the relevant signal to be emitted, but the remote blinks about 5-6 times afterwards, and refuses to accept any further button pushes during that time. I can hold the button down, and it will continue to send the signal, but when I let go it blinks at me.

The magic button doesn't work any more - holding it down causes one long blink instead of the expected two, and it resumes its previous behaviour.

So in this state, I can't try an Operational Reset described in the manual, and it doesn't give me a clue what mode I might have accidentally put it in. Does anyone know what my remote is trying to tell me? All the commands still work, but it's suddenly maddeningly difficult to use.

On many UEI remotes, when the battery voltage is low, the. TV or STB key blinks 5 times after a keypress.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Duh, thankyou! A battery change fixed it. Previously when it ran out of batteries, it just stopped responding overnight.
