hi, i have just bought a Radioshack 15-2133 remote to control my directv box. i found this site from the directv tech support. i have read the manual for the remote and it says that you can upgrade it over the phone with radioshack (number doesnt work). so i was poking around here and found a wav file 1377 for directv and downloaded it. so my question is how to i add the code to my remote? do i just play the wav file with the remote next to my speakers? or do i have to download something else? the tech guy at directv said he didnt know how to ge the remote into program mode, so i assume that you have to press and hold the P button and enter a three digit code to get the program mode then play the sound over the computer? correct? thanks for your responses.

ok, so heres what i did. press sat button, hold the program button for three seconds until it flashes. then press 997 then play the wav file and enter code 1377 for sat. it worked....kinda. only the power button would work so i thought i messed something up so i did it again and now nothing works. i was able to reenter the tv code and that works now but still no sat box. what am i doing wrong?

Problem is wav files are remote model specific. So if you found a wav for a different model (8910 I'm guessing), it won't work. You need to use RM and IR to make one of your own for your model. If you're lucky, some kind soul may make one for you.

I took a look at the WAV file MaskedMan linked, and it has signature RSFF (RS-2133), and it does match Cable 1377.
So it should work. You may want to try a 980 or 981 reset command before trying the WAV download again. In any case, try various positionings of the remote or volume settings on the speaker.

Glad it worked, now that you have code 1377 on board your remote, you can use advanced codes for any missing functions like these:
075-active
008-red
024-green
032-yellow
240-blue
019-menu
067-info
251-back
123-advance
131-replay
163-pause
006-discrete off
014-discrete on
147-play
139-stop
115-ff
155-rew
To map those to keys on the 2133:
1. sat
2. press and hold P for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap P for one blink
5. enter 3 digit advanced code
6. pick unused key
