1. Device: NEC 30" LCD TV, Model Number NLT-30CW
2. Type of device: TV/HDTV
3. Year: 2006
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-8811/8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? n/a

File section contains several Plasma upgrades - tried about 90% of them without success, so it looks like the different protocol is used for LCD TVs.

Only CRT and Plasma's are listed in Pronto NEC TV file section.

Lookup tool brings a lot of NEC TV protocols. Tried suggested Audiovox for LCD TV - did not work.
Still going through those protocols, but if you could give some tips about which ones are most likely to be used for LCD TVs, that'd be really helpful.

Thanks.

In this case, it's time for you to build your own upgrade (which you can probably do in under half an hour). I don't know why you answered n/a to the learning remote question, because it's extremely "a" in your case. If you get stuck, check out the beginner docs and post back if you can't figure it out.

EDIT: Oops, no remote. Sorry about that. I felt so bad, I went ahead and built an upgrade for you. I'll post it soon.

I couldn't find this model on the NEC website, so I did some searching. It appears to be an Australian model from 2005. I found an archive of the original NEC.com.au page here and an archive of the user manual here. I also saved a copy here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=8703

As far as getting a remote for it, I found someone who was fixing one of these sets here:
http://www.electronicskb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/au-electronics/6287/Parts-for-NEC-TV

Maybe you could try contacting him to see if he still has it and if there's a way to borrow the remote.

Actually, the user "buddhababe" here says that his set broke down and he threw it out, but I suppose it's possible that he didn't throw out the remote. I don't know how you contact people through that site, but it might be worth trying to find out.

I just looked through all of the upgrades that we have for NEC projectors, TVs and monitors and have come up with the following list of possible codes for the POWER ON function.

So, with the TV off, try OBC 8 using the following NEC1 device codes:
dev 24
dev 14.9
dev 24.233
dev 24.247

You can also try:
dev 4, obc 65
dev 134.5, obc 15

If one of those codes turns the set on, I'll direct you to the relevant upgrade so you can try the rest of the buttons.

How did you find the code?

I did like Alan does for some of his slingbox upgrades and learned it from a harmony. I wouldn't normally have gone to that much trouble. You can now get a low-end harmony 300 for $35 with which you can get anything from the logitech database.

Looks like TV 0054 should cover most of the functions on the 8811.

You forgot the fixed data. Looks like digitals could have found this with the lookup tool.

I did? Can you or Rob fix it for me? I'm not familiar with RC-5 and don't know what's missing.

What device code did your learns show? As Vicky mentioned, you forgot to enter the device codes. I can fix it for you, but I need to know what they were.

All the learns showed device 0 and a blank subdevice in IR. Whenever I entered zero in RM and saved, it disappeared. So I did try to enter zero, but it wouldn't stick. Fixed data didn't change when I entered zero either. I'll post my last batch of learns if you need it.

I guess since 0 is the default, RM is just dropping it.

Just so I understand what's going on, tell me if I have this right. It appears that RC-5 is a 3 device combo. Since all the codes in this upgrade are device zero, I only need to enter zero in the first device and leave the others blank. Since zero is a default, RM blanks it out when I save or open it. So is the fixed data ok as is?

Correct.

However, I just tried it myself, I entered a zero in one of the device code cells and left the others blank, then when I re-opened the file, that's still how it looked, so are you sure that RM blanked out the cell?
