Hi! This is my first post in the JP1 forums. I've been looking to get into JP1 for a while, but didn't have time until recently. Just built a serial interface and I've been experimenting with keymoves and shifts, etc. Simple things.

I have this Holmes fan that originally came with a remote that I was hoping to use with my URC-1067. Although I no longer have the original remote, I did find a relevant post in the forums:

It sounds like this refers to the same fan I have, since mine has the same five functions. However, I tried inserting the code into the Protocols.ini file for RM, but it won't work -- I guess this is because the code is only for remotes with an S3C80 processor, whereas all of mine have the HCS08 processor.

It seems to me like all the info is there in that post to create an upgrade, I just don't know enough to use PB, etc. to actually do it. Also, that post is very old so some of the linked files no longer exist it seems.

In any case, help will be much appreciated!

The Comcast 1067BX3 remote (red OK/Select button) uses a S3F80 processor, and that instruction set is compatible with the S3C80+ processor that the URC-8811 uses. So try the upgrade with the 1067BX3 remote.

That way you can be sure that the fans use the same IR signals.

I read through that original post, but all I came up with was dead links. I downloaded the pronto file, and converted it to an ICT file so that I could see it in IRScope.

I tried doing this in RM (thanks for pointing out that the 1067BX3 has a different processor), but couldn't get any response from the fan.

Based on the linked post from 2004, I used Device number 204, and Fixed Data was 33. But I notice that the section added to the Protocols.ini file has FixedData=00. I tried that as well, by making the Device number 0.

Used the OBCs 163, 92, 70, 75, and 26. I also had to change the PID to something that wasn't in use.

Loaded both upgrades, but none of the five buttons I assigned produce any response in the fan.

Give this keymaster file a try and see if it gives you what you are looking for. It should work in both RM and KM. I haven't had time to check it.

Thanks. I tried it on both my URC-1067 and URC-1067BX3; no response from the fan with either remote or any buttons.

I'm beginning to wonder if this fan is using a different protocol than the others?

Well, that's why I wanted you to try it on the 1067BX3. BUt do check using a cell phone or other camera to verify that the remote is actually outputting a signal.

Yep, no response. I goofed up badly confused MSB/LSB and it was only sending 2 bytes not 3. Have now tested on the 1067 and works as advertised.

Edit, I got around to testing the 1067BX3 and this also sends the same signal. So, you may have made a mistake in your assignments, or there might be another Holmes fan code.

Found a match and recorded the IR signals with the JP1 tools to create the respective files.

This one is strange. If I record the signals through IR Scope, it reports as <unknown>. However, if I export those into a UEI Learn format for IR.exe they show up as Old Panasonic. Even stranger, I saved the short and long key presses of these signals but they don't all show up in IR Scope. However, if you open the ICT file in Notepad then they are present in the file.

Anyways, here are the IR Scope exported UEI Learns Because of light in recent findings, I'm moving this thread into the Protocol Decode forum. Hopefully, one of the senior experts can make sense of these signals.

Sorry, it didn't seem that obvious to me. That is why I moved it out of the Code Search forums. If you think there's nothing else to be done, then I can push it into the closed forums instead.

Well we didn't ever get a response from the op to tell if it worked for him, but 2 years ago, I created and tested an upgrade that sent out a similar signal. Your ICT matches the ICT that I created from the decodes, and 2 years ago I created and tested an upgrade. It could be that the timings are out of tolerance, but without any feedback I would think this is closed.
