no-name USB Remote for Windows -trying to create BIN files

Hi,
I have a Slingbox AV (it’s either a JU or PL, not sure. Under Identity, IR Blaster version says 2 (not 2.0 or 2.1 – so probably 2.0) I’ve just been creating all the bin files that I can to cover my bases (JU, PL, PK, RV)).
Using Al Richey’s instructions, I’m trying to create the BIN files for a USB PC Remote on Slingplayer. The remote I have looks exactly like the one in:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10564
except that instead of the “Media Center” button in the middle, it’s a “Full Screen” button.
Anyway, I downloaded Robman’s “no-name USB remote for Windows (combo)" rmdu file
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6183
Ran it thru RemoteMaster to create all the BIN files that I could for Slingplayer but no luck once I had them installed. No ability to control
So, I bought an IR Widget from Tommy Tyler and was able to collect some sample button signals to test out. I created BIN files in RemoteMaster from scratch using the info I got from IR Widget, but still no luck. Can't control the PC using slingbox (in this case, trying to use the arrow keys to move around in Boxee).
When I use IR Widget on the output from the Slingbox IR Blaster, the data looks okay, except that the frequencies are off – not sure if that’s a problem. Here's an image of what I get from the remote vs. from the slingbox ir blaster
Right now, I’m not sure how to proceed, so any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks.

That all looks fine to me. I assume you have done all the usual test (digital camera to make sure the blasters are firing, Blaster placement....

yes, actually, the bottom half of the image with the IR Scope data is the IR Widget measuring the signal coming out of the slingbox Blaster.
I've also tried the blaster from different distances from the usb receiver - from right up against to about 4 inches away.
The top half of the image with the IR Scope data is from the remote while the bottom half is from the Blaster. You can see the difference in frequency. Is that the problem? and if yes, can I somehow adjust that?
thanks,

No, Rob is the expert but I recall him telling me that the frequency can be spread over quite a large range.
You said you weren't sure of the Slingbox, but with a code of 2 it should be using the PL file.
What code number are you using to build the BIN files ? If it is a built-in one it might be grabbing that instead of your file. Use one between 2000 and 2040

thanks for your reply.
I'm pretty sure now that it's a PL. If I just use a JU BIN file, the setup assistant complains.
Also, I've been using codes between 2001 and 2040.

Sorry, you have reached the limit of my knowledge now. No other suggestions

Hi Stephen. While it could be the frequency that is the culprit, it could also be something else in the timing area. To see what's going on, we need to see the ICT files. If you could zip together and post them in the diagnoses are WITH A LINK HERE, someone can take a look and see if there is anything else odd in the way the signal is emitting.
The only other thing I can think of is the aiming of the blaster.

Rather than posting several individual ICT files, you could use the "Save All As" option to save all the learns as one ICT file.
A frequency difference of 5k could well be the problem.
I would need your RM file in order to build a new upgrade for you.

super - thanks for your help.
As suggested by vickyg2003 and Robman, I've uploaded the ict and summary data for both the usb pc remote and what's coming out of the slingplayer blaster. I've also uploaded the rmdu file I made to create the BIN file.
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=8575
please let me know if I have not uploaded the correct items.
Note that I didn't collect all the buttons on the remote. I wasn't sure of the procedure for collecting a signal on, for example, the number 5, which required multiple keystrokes. It's not necessary for me to have this, but for the sake of completeness for others, I can do that later when I know how.
thanks!

If you look at two pictures of say the skip- ict's you can see that the timings are way off. So I adjusted the timings as well as the frequency.
I didn't have time to test it, and the buttons need to be reassigned the way you'd like them, but here is a RDMU with your functions in it.
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=8576
Please capture all the buttons on the remote, even the ones you are not going to be using, and then submit the upgrade to our files section for the next guy.
Good luck

Thanks, vickyg2003.
Things look a zillion times better. I'm able to move the cursor around and close apps, etc.
Now the issue is when I hit, for example, the right arrow key on the slingbox remote, it moves two positions instead of one. This is also true for other arrow movements. As another example, when I push the button to close an application, the app closes but then it goes one further and starts a system shutdown.
So each button push seems to do two button pushes. I've uploaded an ict file that I captured of a "right button" push and a "close app" button push from slingplayer blaster and also included signal captures from the actual remote for those two button for comparison, thinking this might help diagnose the problem

Please let me know what you think if you get a chance. Thanks a lot for your help.

The leadout time was a bit longer on my signals. I think it was just enough time for the device to think it was 2 presses. I also cut the repeats to two.

that's it! you rock!
Thanks so much for doing that. Everything seems good.
I now have a question about capturing output that requires multiple keystrokes, but I'll post it in a different part of the forum, since it's a more general question (well, first I'll look to see if there's already an existing answer in the forum for my question). Once I get help with that, I can upload a rmdu with a complete set of buttons for this and also a set of BINs for slingplayer.
Thanks again, vickyg2003, for being so generous with your expertise and time.

Check out the
original thread on this where Rob built the protocol. You'll see there that there really are no
multi-keystroke commands. All the number keys send the same command no matter what.
