Can anyone tell me if this Atlas 1056 is a learning remote?

I love that it has backlighting, but I need to have a learning remote.

Can anyone tell from the picture if it's a learning remote or not?

No, it does not. I have several from this vendor.

I really like these remotes though - I think they are the best out there right now especially with the extender.

You might consider buying an RCRP05B which is on sale at Walgreen's for $15 to do any learning you need, or buying an IR Widget from Tommy.

Finally, if you REALLY wanted to, you could add the components to make it a learner - the spots are on the board and even already have solder bumps on them if you are in to that sort of thing

Get the IR widget from Tommy, it makes building upgrades SO much easier than learning/downloading/clearing/rinse/repeat

The backlit Atlas 1056's are nice, it's my primary remote in my family room right now.

I can also confirm this remote is not a learning model, as I asked the seller this question directly.

It is still a great remote, I have three in the house (and a non backlighted model). I love how much they can control.

I recently bought an Atlas 1056 from a seller on eBay. I wanted a backlit remote to replace my RS 15-1994 that died after 10 years of faithful service. I really like the remote and find the lack of learning is only a minor problem. I found a kind of simple solution that seems to work. I use an Atlas 1055 for learning. They both use the same .ir file so I just use the 1055 to learn any new codes, download to IR and then upload to the 1056. I may build a device upgrade in RM when I get the time but in the meantime this was a quick and easy solution.
According to the URC website they did make a learning version of the 1056. I don't think it was backlit, though.

One of the things I learned just recently is you can copy a learn from one remote to another remote that has "learning memory" so I can take someones learn from the diagnosis area and copy it to my non-learning atlas if I don't have the same remote. I was doing this to see how upgrades compare to the learns, although now that Graham has made all those wonderful changes to the widget I don't have to shoot it from a remote to see the signal any more.

The only caveat to what Vicky just said is that the "copy to" remote has to support learning from a functional point of view, even if it lacks the hardware. So a remote like the URC-8011 would work whereas a remote like the URC-6131 would not.
