Unknown RDF

I'm new to all of this but I did build a jp1 interface and am having fun customizing my 15-2116. My question is this... I work at a hotel that has Mitsubishi TVs. The remote that came with them has a jp1 connector. I thought this would make a perfect remote for my kids to use at home. We gave away the remotes to another hotel as we could not use them with our cable/entertainment vendor's equipment anyway. I managed to snag one when I saw the jp1. When I connect the remote to my computer and download, ir.exe errors with "cannot find definition file for (scou* " or something similar. What is my next step? Would learning some of the keys with my RS remote help?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Save the downloaded file to a text file and then put it up in the Diagnosis Area. One of the experts can then take a look at it and help you create an RDF for it. There will be some other things they will want you to do, but I don't know what they are.

I've posted the file. It is mitsubishi.txt. I connected the remote to my computer, opened ir.exe, downloaded from the remote, got the error message, and then saved the file. Is there anything else?

Thanks,
Brian

I have created a starter RDF for you, here's a link:
SCOU (Mitsubishi Hotel Remote STARTER).rdf

This RDF will let you download from your remote using IR.exe, but it's missing more info than it contains. I'd really need to have the remote in my hands in order to complete the RDF I'm afraid. In the meantime, could you take a picture of the remote? Also, do you see a model number anywhere on it?

I don't suppose it looks anything like this does it:

It looks almost exactly like that picture. There is no model number anywhere. After tearing it apart, I found UEIA-769-7887 printed on the board and SC501017P printed on the chip. I've located another remote for you. I'm picking it up this afternoon. I'll post when I get it.

Thanks for the file,
Brian

Then it appears that what you have is a UEI "Control 2" remote. Click on the pic above for programming instructions and click here for the general description:

For sure, I could tell that just by the 2-part signature.

6805???? Please explain. Is this not worth doing?

Rob,
I've got another remote. Email me and I'll get it to you.

Never mind... A little searching just answered my question. Is there anything special about the 6805 processor?

The 6805 is an older processor, UEI used to use it in all of their non-LCD remotes before that adopted the Samsung S3C8 used in most remotes now. Most of the special tools and protocols here in the JP1 world are written for the S3C8 remotes.

Mike has become something of an expert with the 6805 remotes (well, somebody had to), so he's the guy we turn to for info on these remotes when we come across them.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply there was anything wrong with your remote. It's just that we're always a little excited when we can bring another remote into the fold. Compared to this time last year, we've dramtically increased JP1 support for 6805 remotes.
