RemoteMaster set directories?

RemoteMaster set directories?
I was installing RemoteMaster on a different computer and on the first run, it asked for the location of the directories, first the RDF and then the Maps & Images. I screwed up by clicking on the wrong thing for Maps & Images. Now, even though it complains that it can't find the maps and images, it doesn't ask for the location again and I can't find an option in the menu structure to establish/change the directory. How do I change the directory assignment?

I did that too. I moved my folders for better organization and then couldn't find it. If memory serves me right I just clicked on the setup.bat to fix my problems. Worst case scenario, just reinstall remotemaster.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Re: RemoteMaster set directories?
I'm having the same issue. Not because of installing it on a different computer but because I simply didn't remember what the images and keymaps were when I installed this version, and gave it the wrong answer when it prompted for a path.pH7_jp1 wrote:I was installing RemoteMaster on a different computer and on the first run, it asked for the location of the directories, first the RDF and then the Maps & Images. As far as I can tell this parameter isn't in remotemaster.properties. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times now with the same result. Tried searching the registry for the bad directory name to no avail. My old copy of v1.28 still works ok (and finds the images in the same folder as the executable.
v1.97 must be saving this bit of information somewhere, but I sure haven't been able to find it.
Any help would be appreciated.

All the paths are in there. You can't miss them.flynwill wrote:As far as I can tell this parameter isn't in remotemaster.properties.

If you say so....mdavej wrote:All the paths are in there. You can't miss them.flynwill wrote:As far as I can tell this parameter isn't in remotemaster.properties.
I see everything else, but I don't see anything that relates to the path for the images and keymaps:
I was able to solve the problem by renameing the incorrect directory. That forced remotemaster to prompt for the correct location. However I still don't know where it is keeping that path stored.#Sat Feb 13 18:51:55 PST 2010

Yes it does, that's what I am using. But you need to do what I said. The RemoteMaster.properties file is NOT in the same directory as the RM installation. It is in a directory all its own, in my case (and probably yours too), in <user>/AppData/Roaming/RemoteMaster. In that way the properties are shared if you have more than one version of RM installed. The folder is listed as Home Directory under Help/About in RM.pH7_jp1 wrote:I should have mentioned that it was version V1.97 on Vista. In this case there doesn't appear to be a RemoteMaster.Properties file.

Ok, found it. Apparently in Vista if you ask explorer to search the entire disk for a given file name -- it decides for itself that you did really want to search the entire disk. (And I should have known to look in AppData, but it didn't occur to me that the search wasn't complete). Damn Microsoft.
Thanks Guys.

I can confirm that's where it is on my system (Vista64) too.mathdon wrote:<user>/AppData/Roaming/RemoteMaster
Here's what the data looks like:

I read too fast and just zeroed in on "Home directory" and went ahead assuming that was the RM install directory (since that was true elsewhere). Even after your additional help, I had a small problem finding AppData. I always set explorer to show hidden files/directories, but on this computer and login, that had not been done. After setting the options in Explorer to my usual I found it and fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.Yes it does, that's what I am using. But you need to do what I said.
