Bravia Sync and Windows

Post by Deluxe »

Hi guys,

Edit (5 mins after posting): I totally just read the homepage and realise this website has nothing to do with HDMI control stuff and is for a specific product heh. Erm, oh well no harm in asking :)

First of all, before I explain my question I'd like to note that I *have* searched both the forum and google for an answer and I'm yet to find it, my apologies if it has already been explained. Basically, here's the deal. I have-

- Sony Current Gen 52" Bravia
- Sony Surround DVD system
- Sony Slim PS3

All of which are delightfully hooked up using HDMI and HDMI control so they do the nifty all-on,all-off,only-use-one-remote thing.

Anyway, some of the time instead of using network media servers on my PS3 or Bravia, I watch videos directly of my Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-FW15G) using HDMI.

tl;dr..Is there a way I can use HDMI control on a Windows (Vista or 7, I dualboot) machine? This way I can play/pause with my regular remote that does everything without faffing about with the mouse n fiddly menus.

As far is I understand CEC seems to be a standard, but not really because manufacturers can only guarantee interoperability with their products. (wtf?)

Thanks in advance, again my apologies if this has been answered elsewhere :)

Kind regards,
Deluxe
