OK not sure is this is the right place, but...
My RS 15-135 is acting up. It's performed wonderfully for the last year.
I just started a new job in Aug that has me 200 miles from the family.
Got a call a few days ago, and the 15-135 quit. Turn out it reset all the codes to 11111. My son reprogrammed a few devices form the manual, and they seam to work, but not all my devices are in the manual (plus several customizations)
Came home for Thanksgiving and got the JP1 tools out again. The remote will not respond to IR (even tried the current versions). The test apps from Tommy cannot find it either.
I tried my son's 15-133 to verify the interface/computer, and it works fine with his remote.
With the interface plugged in to the 15-135, any button press cause the power button to blink 6 or 7 times. That's the only think I've found so far.
Anyone ever seen a remote suddenly reset like that?
Any ideas why it's not responding to interface?
I'm home through Sunday, so I can work on it. Otherwise I'll have to get my son (15) to help debug it remotely, or wait til I'm home around Christmas.
Looks like RS has stopped marketing the branded remotes, and only carries a few others now.
Any suggestions for a similar remote? I need 6 devices, TV, SAT(DVR), DVD, VCR, LD, and Tuner/AV receiver. I like the transport keys on the 15-135 (one of the reasons I went with it last year). |

Fresh batteries?
Other than that, I think you have issues with the hardware. The RCA remote is pretty nice and very similar to the RS 15-13x series. Best Buy sells them so you can go take a look (although I would not recommend going near BB tomorrow if you're just going to look at remotes) _________________ this JP1 stuff is a sickness! |

Yes. They were changed when it reset.

Ever seen a similar issue?
I thought these things would have the keys degrade, or just stop completely.
Never imagined the unused header under the battery cover would break.

No worries there, as there is not a BB withing 90 miles. |

Probably won't help, but have you done a 981 reset? That is supposed to return the remote to as-shipped condition. The only cost to trying it that everything is erased, including the setup codes that your son recently entered.
Press setup until two blinks
Enter 981
Shoud see 4 blinks |

I know I did one of the resets, I think it was 981.
I did get 4 blinks after entering the code. |
