Sony DAV-HDX275 code

I have not messed with these things for a while and seem to have forgotten the basics of programming the One For All remote. All I want to do is make the remote control the volume and power function of a Sony DAV-HDX275 entertainment center and I am not having any luck. I do not have a JP1 cable anymore and was thinking I would be able to just manually program this code in the place of the old code I have there that worked with the old entertainment system we had. Every time I hold down the SET button and push any other button it says INVALID on the remote. Isn't possible to call a number and have them set the code through the phone or something? ANy help would be great!
Thanks!!

I have never programmed a urc-8910 manually, but I find it hard to believe that you are should ever be pressing keys simultanesouly.
You might want to check the
urc-8910 Manual

I bought the remote over 2 years ago and I do not have the manual anymore. What do you mean you find it hard to believe that "I should ever be pressing keys simultaneously"? I hold down the set button until it says code set and then I try to either select DVD or just enter the code I have found but regardless of what button I push the remote says INVALID on the display. Is it not possible to set the codes manually? The other codes set into the remote now were set via JP1 cable which does not work with the new computer.

Okay, sorry. When you said it like this it sounded like you were trying to do something that many of my users. They often think its like a computer keyboard.
Were you using an extender?

8910 programming setup code without a cable
Press and hold setup till you see "code set" message
Press Select, it will display last used device button
Press device button to which you plan to add the Sony box
Enter setup code, 4 digits - you will see them displaying one by one
Press Select
Display will say "Success"
I have no idea what setup code, I hope you know. Start with the old code you used, it's displayd on the LCD.

There is no preset code in 8910, the first remote with code was the 6131, code was AUD 1658. Which was pretty much only good for power and volume in sony Dream systems.

After you release the "Set" button,
you need to press "Select", then continue. If you want to do OTHER function besides "Code Set", after the long press of "Set" you would use the arrow keys to cycle up or down through the menu, adn then press "Select" to continue with that programming step.

I know this is a pretty old post but I am now using the Cox remote. How can I make the cox remote work on the Sony DAV-HDX275? I have tried all of the codes I found for sony and I have tried the search feature where I hit the channel + button until the device turns off but it never did. I know the remote that came with the home theater system is infrared so I think the cox remote should work if I could only find that 4 digit code!

Did you ever get this working with the 8910? With the WAV ability you could have gotten just about anything working with that wonderful remote.
From what I understand you should be able to get some functionality with the Audio/1658 or Audio/1858 which are built into the 30463046 Cox URC-7820B .

Use the instructions and EFCs in
this thread to manually enter EFCs for functions which aren't already available on 1658. Note that the thread starts with reference to a Comcast remote, which only has 1758, and then refers to an Atlas which does have 1658.
You can get all functions programmed manually with the Cox remote.

we now have DVR with cox and i think its more work then its worth to make the other remote work that. My parents would never be able to remember the buttons I set up to use for recording shows and stuff.. Making the cox remote work for everything seems a lot easier and more practicle now. Thanks for the tips, I will try those codes now.
I found this
http://www.urcsupport.com/images/upload ... 820BP1.pdf and I set my remote on volume lock for DVD mode but now when I push the volume buttons the dvd light does not light up, in fact nothing lights up when I hit the volume buttons. I am not sure whats going on but everything else is still working normally.
Edit: Looking at the thread you linked me too, all the codes are 5 digits. The cox remote only takes 4 digits. I am confused, lol
Edit again. I just set the volume lock back to cable since that and TV seem to be the only settings in which the volume and mute buttons actually work. Now, all I want to do is make my cox remote power on and off the home theater system and adjust the volume on it as well.. Maybe someone can break down just that info from the thread that you linked me to because I am not getting it at all at this point and I wish I had a JP1 cable! lol

i tried it a few times going by the instructions and nothing worked. Also, there is no real codes in the atlas list for power or volume. Just audio, up and down which I dont think is right.
Also I did try the comcast codes for power and volume to no avail. I am still stumped as to what to do.

OK, let's make sure that we're on the same page. Sony HTIB systems use the Sony protocol (both 15 and 20 bits). The 15 bit commands (including volume and power) which use device number 80 or 208 can be sent by many different setup codes. However, most of the functions that control DVD menus, the arrow keys, etc. are 20 bit using device 16, subdevice 16. The only setup code in the Cox remote that will allow you to control these is Audio (not Video) 1658. So you need to use the AUX device mode button and assign setup code 1658 to it.
Power should work immediately, and volume once you have VPT set to AUX.
Many of the other buttons will need to have EFCs assigned to them. Here are all the codes from a DAV-HDX500, taken the File Section and re-formatted to make the EFCs compatible with 1658.

This is the typical reaction when there is no function assigned to the button. No function, no light up. Usually DVD codes don't have a volume associated with them, so this is very typical.
Is your HT system on your DVD button? Is that why you assigned the punch through to the DVD system. If you assigned your HT to the DVD button, did you change that button to be AUdio first? Did the remote accept the 1658?

Yeah. This is so much easier when you can actually SEE what is going on in your remote. Of course your urc-8910 uses an EEPROM cable while the Cox remotes use a FLASH cable.

The 4-digit codes you refer to are "setup codes" (ie, the codes you find in the manual). The 5-digit codes you saw listed as EFCs (aka "advanced codes), these are codes used to program individual buttons.
