JP1 Remotes

Hi All,

I need to try and find a manual and setup codes for a All in One URC Remote Control Model Number 3440. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a website with said manual. I have hunted the web high and low without success.

Hi Guys - Found 3 out of the 4 codes I was looking for. I set the remote up, using the codes for the URC7440 remote and they worked. Apart from the code for my DVD player, which is a Yamada 5520 slim DVD. The suggested code was 1004, but this does not work. Does anyone know of a code which might.

I have the manual (paper version) for URC-3440. If you still need it I can scan it and upload it to net.

OFA lists DVD 1004 and 1013 as Yamada codes. Neither of them is built in URC-3440.
Closest match to theese codes (NEC1 device 4) in URC-3440 is DVD 0672.
If any button from DVD 0672 works with Yamada then you can program the rest of the buttons with keymoves.

Or you can upgrade URC-3440 to become fully JP1 compatible and then build your own setup code for Yamada DVD.

However, I could use a good full frontal photo of this remote (and any others that are flying under the radar).

What's the 411 on this puppy? What hardware mods does it need to be JP1 compatible? Does it have a spot for an EEPROM and the 6-pin?

What is 411?

It has holes for JP1 header and pads for EEPROM.
Modification requires JP1 header, EEPROM 24C16 (or 24C08), J6, J7, J8 wires and capacitor C11 (0.1uF).

It uses new style keymoves like URC-6131, has no macro support, recognizes only first 1K of 24C16.

What is 411?

The American Telephone system uses "4-1-1" as the "information" number. It's what you call when you want to find a phone number and know the person's name (and city/state).

To get the 411 on something is slang meaning "To get the information about something"

Just to round things out, 9-1-1 is the "emergency number".

Sorry, it's an Americanism. Over here, 411 is the number you dial for "information" (ie, to get people's telephone numbers or "Directory Information" as they say in the UK). So, in modern speak, when someone says "what's the 411" they mean "what's the information"

Also, I didn't mean to infer that this remote was a young dog!

9-11 is also the shorthand term used to refer to the events of Sept 11th, 2001 and boy are we glad that it didn't happen on July 11th!

We're already up to 165, so you might need to renumber them.

With a big thank you to Rob, I now have all 4 devices configured and the manual for this remote, with all the codes noted down for future reference.

I got the RDF, thanks

It looks however that the latest version you posted was edited with WordPad instead of notepad. Not a problem since I fixed it but when using WordPad make sure it is saved in dos text format.
