Newbie/Slingbox: want to send IR Kbd codes

Post by weez »

I'm very new at this, so sorry if this is a stupid question. Here's my scenario: I have a PC-based security DVR that runs Windows Vista. I want to view/control it via Slingbox from the internet (RDC runs too slowly).

I've successfully created a JP1 upgrade for the Slingbox for a stand-alone DVR previously, using information from this forum and slingmedia's forums, and it worked great. I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing in this case.

I've converted the PC's VGA output to composite video and it streams through slingbox fine. I have a Solidtek ACK-573UB IR Keyboard (brand name Adesso, but IRTool says it's Solidtek) hooked up to the PC, and that works fine. It also works with the IR codes I learned into a ProntoPro (I need to use that to control this as well).

So I need to figure out how to get a subset of the keyboard's IR codes transmitted from the Slingbox to the keyboard's IR receiver. I've tried following the same steps I used to make the upgrade as I did for the stand-alone DVR (learn the code into ProntoPro; Use IRTool to identify Device, OBC, EFC; use RemoteMaster to generate the upgrade) but I'm stuck at the RemoteMaster part -- IRTool says it's a Solidtek device, but there is no Solidtek device in RM.

I found some posts in the forum that suggest using RS 15-1994 variants -- have tried them, but the OBC/EFC's don't match the ones I've learned/converted with PPro/IRTool. And I need some key sequences that weren't listed - like Alt-N (so I'd have to supplement the 15-1994 upgrade anyhow).

I think I'm missing something basic, but I'm not sure what. Can someone point me in the right direction? I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Slingbox forum or the newbie forum...

Thanks for any help/ideas.
