Hello all!
I assume I am not a JP1 user since I'm not sure exactly what it is. But others here have posted about Comcast DVR remotes so I am hopeful I can find some help here.
Last weekend Comcast installed a new DVR for me, the DCX3400, with a newer model remote. It is dark silver, with the On Demand, All On, and PIP buttons.
I can not get the AUX button to light. I think I disabled it accidentally when trying to enter a code for my Pioneer receiver. Is there anyway to re-enable the AUX button?
Thanks!

You see that 6 pin connector in your battery compartment. With a JP1.3 Flash cable, you could program your remote on screen. You could add custom devices, you could get all sorts of enhanced behavior out of your remote.Hello all!

Not at all? Not even the transport keys? Not even when you press the AUX button itself?
If a few buttons will light up the AUX button but most won't its probabbly just the Channel Lock. Most of the buttons won't work in AUX mode if you have Channel Lock on.
De-Activating Channel Control Lock
1. On the remote control, press Cable once. Then press and hold until the Cable key blinks twice, then release 2. Enter 9 - 7 - 3. Press CH- once. The Cable key will blink four times.
3. Now, the remote control will
provide TV or cable channel
control capabilities while in the
or Cable mode.
If absolutely no buttons will light the AUX button, even pressing the AUX button itself try a reset, even if you try another AUX code, then you'll need to do a reset.
1. On the remote control, press Cable once. Then press and hold until the Cable key blinks twice, then release 2. Enter 9 - 8 - 0
If that doesn't work to get the light back on, you might need to do a factory reset 9-8-1.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Yeah, it won't light at all. Not by hitting in directly or by pressing any other key. I will try the reset tonight.
Ok, I just checked out the Comcast website with their remote control instruction booklets and this is the one I was given. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions for "Reassigning Device Keys". Step 3 makes it sound like you need to enter that 10047 code to be able to program the AUX key for another device. But ever since I entered that code, the key has been dead and unresponsive.
And now as I think about it, maybe I should just redo those steps and maybe it will come back. I'll try that before the reset.

Well, to reassign the Aux key, you need to hold setup until the Aux light blinks twice. But if the Aux key doesn't light up at all, it's going to be hard to know when it is should have blinked twice. I'd guess around 5 seconds, but I haven't ever put a watch on it.
Also, once you have successfully entered 10047, Aux should blink twice to indicate that 10047 was recognized.
Comcast typically ships these remotes with two "upgrades" loaded into flash. They are 01376 for Motorola boxes, and 01877 for Scientific Atlanta. A 981 reset will erase the upgrades. I doubt that this is a problem, because I have the same remote, and the upgrade seems to be identical to the already existing 01376 that UEI has in ROM. However, I don't have exactly the same Motorola box as yours.
If you reach the point of doing a reset, definitely start with 980.

Those instructions are very strange. The way it works on similar remotes is as follows:djbrown13 wrote:I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions for "Reassigning Device Keys". Step 3 makes it sound like you need to enter that 10047 code to be able to program the AUX key for another device.
- Press device key to reassign (AUX in your case)
- Hold setup for 2 blinks
- Press 9 9 2 (2 blinks)
- Press desired device type key (AUX in your case)
- Press device key to reassign (also AUX in your case), 2 blinks
Then assign the desired device code in the usual way (setup for 2 blinks then code).
EDIT: Forget the above procedure. There should be no reason to reassign device keys on this remote. It takes 5 digit codes. The first digit takes care of the device type. The instructions must have used a specific TV code as an example. All you should really have to do is press AUX, then setup for 2 blinks, then the 5 digit code. End of story. I can't explain why your AUX button isn't working at all anymore.
I tried redoing the 10047 code and the 980 reset last night. The 10047 code couldn't be done because the AUX button wouldn't light so when I hit set up CABLE would light. The 980 reset did reset some things (I lost my 30 sec skip, for example and it re-enabled the volume lock to the tv) but the AUX button was still dormant.
I'm leery to try the complete reset in case I end up killing the remote completely, and I have a lot of stuff on the DVR to watch.
Since I don't need the AUX button to work in the bedroom I tried to switch remotes with that room, but the dark silver remote wouldn't talk to the SD digital box up there at all.
So next chance I get I'll have to go to the local office and attempt to trade my busted remote for a new one.
Thanks to everyone for their input.

It sounds to me like one of the "locks" is on that causing CABLE to light after pressing setup. check un-locking, before returning.
Also, a 981 reset won't kill the remote. It'll at worst kill any custom programming like pre-loaded setups, but as 3FG says, there are other setups already in the remote that'll work the dvr.

I don't think it's a dead LED. If it were, after pressing AUX and then pressing setup nothing would blink (because the remote would be attempting to blink AUX but its wouldn't show because the LED was out).
But in this scenario, press AUX and then press setup and the cable (or TV, if that was the device button pressed before pressing AUX) button lights.
