Nokia 12 Protocol

Post by alanrichey »

IRScope is coming up with an IR Protocol of 'Nokia 12', which doesn't appear in the dropdown list in RemoteMaster.

Anyone know the hex code for it ?

I searched for Nokia 12 and Nokia12 and this thread popped up. It mentions the URC-39890 remote and DSTV and XMP protocol. The newer URC-39895 and DSTV PVR also seem to use the XMP protocol. Perhaps your Nokia 12 is really XMP with 016C protocol id. Maybe the newer DecodeIR.dll 2.37 decodes it as XMP?

I wish you still had a working learning remote because I could tell what you really need from the IR file with the learns in it. Working with the IRScope output is much too time consuming when the protocol needs close examination like this one does.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just installed the latest DecodeIR.dll and it still shows up as Nokia12. I suspect you are right that it is the good old XMP in another guise.

Rob: I know you are right :-) But to be honest I am actually having trouble keeping my head above water just providing Custom Remotes for people with 'normal' protocols (I had 4 requests today alone). I just don't have the time to do the extra work involved in decoding those with XMP. But next time I am in the USA I will treat myself to a new remote.

Cheers

Maybe you can post your IRscope data file and mathdon can look at it to determine why Nokia 12 is chosen before XMP. This thread is discussing the latest DecodeIR.dll.

I have downloaded the IRscope file but not yet looked at it. However, I have checked the order in which DecodeIR tests for protocols and XMP is tested for before Nokia. In fact, XMP is the first protocol tested, before all others.

I have also encountered the Nokia12 protocol, and posted a request here (which no-one cared to answer... :( ). The IRP-notation is given in DecodeIR.html (and also in my quoted post).

As far as I understand, someone needs to implement it as a protocol update.
