rs 15-2116 will not ir learn after JP1 interface?

I built the simple jp1 interface rev 5 and it works fine with my rs 15-2116 remote. For some reason the remote will not ir learn anymore? I've tried everything. Can the Jp1 interface and ir.exe blow out the ir learning function or detector? Has that ever happened to anyone before? Or is it simply coincidence that my remote became defective after utilizing the JP1 interface? It is a new remote and I will return it if no one has a solution for me. I just don't want this to happen again.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Mose extenders (if you installed one) reallocate the leaming memory for device upgrades and keymoves/macros.
Other than that, it is possible that you have filled up the learning memory of your remote. You typically can only learn about 20 keys.

No extender - 'did a full reset and still cannot learn a single key from any other remote? I think it must to be defective. I just want to make sure it wasn't the JP1 that blew it up. I don't want to have to return another blown remote.

There have never been any confirmed reports of JP1 ruining a remote.
Did you do an OPS RESET or a MFR RESET? A full reset (MFR; not described in the manual) is done this way:
1) Hold SETUP (green P) until screen reads "CODE SET"
2) Press RECORD
3) Select MFR RESET from the LCD menu.

I would also make sure that your IR build was not done with the entender RDF. Doing so could cause the same problem even without installing the extender.

I did the mfg reset and everything works fine except I still cannot ir learn from any remote. I just get an error message. I think the remote is history unless someone else has an idea?
Thanks again!

How about a fresh set of batteries?

Yep, put in new batteries and nothing. I did learn some keys before using the JP1, but now all I get is zip. I guess I'll go down to my local Radio Shack dealer and swap it out. I hope it was just a defective unit.

My guess is that it is in fact a defective unit, I don't believe that JP1 did anything to this remote (at least, we've never heard of such a happening before).

Thanks for all your help! I'm just getting stated using JP1 and I'm sure I'll have some more questions as we move along. I'll get the new remote and test. If I have anymore related issues, I'll post.
Also,
Thanks to the hifi-remote folks for building this website and all the folks who developed the hardware plans, software tools and consulting advice for JP1 and charge nothing for it.
