Showstopper with Comcast Pace DTA

I will soon be forced to use the (infamous) Comcast Pace DC50X DTA box. I'd like to continue using my Replaytv Showstopper (3000 model). Apparently there is an RID file available to add IR blaster support for this box to the newer replays (in the Replay file section on this forum), however, the older showstopper models use OBJ files to add IR blaster codes.
It seems no one is quite sure that this support can be added to the Showstopper (due to it using a different IR protocol (?)
Does anyone have any information about the showstopper IR blaster protocols or the Comcast Pace box? Eventually I think I will need an OBJ file created to add the IR blaster codes, but I'm not sure if it can work to begin with. Someone did create an OBJ file over at the AVS forums, but couldn't test it and no one gave any feedback if they tried it. If anybody has any information that might help, I'd appreciate it!

There is an RM JP1 upgrade for this STB here:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6408
And a KM file here:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6326
This upgrade uses the XMP ($016C) protocol (aka "Dreambox"). My guess is that it's too large to load into the ReplayTV boxes.
I had to remind myself how to create OBJ upgrades for Replay. First, you'll need this RDF:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4722
Then you'll need the RM program, which can create OBJ files in much the same way that it creates Slingbox BIN files, just by selecting the ReplayTV rdf as the "remote".
I just edited the protocol used by this box to try and make it smaller and have created an OBJ file based on it, but I have absolutely no way of knowing if it will work or not.
RM file:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=7036
OBJ file:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=7027

I don't have the box in hand yet, so I can't really test it, however....I can try adding the OBJ file to the Replay. What do I have to do in the Replay to tell if it was accepted properly? I'm assuming try to assign an IR blaster code, what will the code be in the list?

As mentioned in the file description, the code is C1982. I can't help with the rest of it as I've never actually loaded a new code into a ReplayTV box, and I don't think too many others have either.
You might get more help here:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=862213
but I don't know how many active users are still other there.

Ok...it seems that you can't 'add' the OBJ file to the Replay...but you can replace ones that are there. They retain the original name but after the replacement I confirmed that the file contents are changed. However I'm not sure which file to replace. Here's the contents of the IRtable text file:
Code: Select all
#
# Replay TV IRBlaster Setup Code Info Table
#
# Version 12/28/99
#
# This file contains specific information for IRBlaster setup codes.
# Each entry specifies the IR Code to use, the output string format,
# and the interdigit delay. A setup code 0f 0 is used to change
# the delay and format used as the default

I'm not sure which one the C1982.OBJ is supposed to replace, or if it matters. I'm assuming after I do this replacement, I just use the old IR code...correct?

I just replaced the file with C0015_OBJ, which is on your list, so try that.

One more question.....any idea if the IRtable text file needs to be modified?

I'm not familiar with the process, but if you're overlaying an existing file, rather than adding a new one, I don't think so.

The Robman,
I've been working on some things on another forum, getting the OBJ files onto the showstopper. Do you know if the limit on 'protocol size' is limited by the file size of the OBJ file, or is there some kind of hardware limitation?

I don't have any experience upgrading ReplayTV boxes, but a newer version of the UEI chip is also used in Slingboxes and I know that there is a size limit there. There is a limit to the overall combined size of the upgrade, so for example, if you need to include a large protocol you may need to reduce the number of buttons in the upgrade in order to bring the size down.
Does that answer your question? Did you have any luck loading the upgrade that I created?

That answers the question...I was able to load the upgrade file without a problem. It seemed to load fine, and when I re-extracted the file it looks to be intact. However I still haven't received the box to test it on yet....I will definately report back when I do.
