It works!!! You are the best.

The exit button was greyed out. I have rectified it and the bin files are here :

Hi
Just to say that slingbox has officially support now tv remote in their database. I, however, cannot turn the stb on with the slingbox remote once it is turn off. All the other functions work well. I can even turn it off with the power toggle button on the remote.

Can anyone help me with this?

I suppose a modification of this rmdu in the protocol will do the job?

Hi What I meant in the above post was that I cannot turn on the stb with the slingbox officially supported remote control. The real physical remote from now tv can turn it on/off correctly. I have tried the harmony emulated remote but it won't turn it on, either.

I hope someone can help modify the rmdu file in this thread, perhaps editing the protocol somehow, to enable me to turn it on correctly.

The problem is that if I accidentally turn it off remotely, then I won't be able to turn it on remotely. I have to go home to boot it on.

Thanks for help.

As the Harmony Remote won't operate it either are you sure that the Power function isn't RF ? I assume you have set the Harmony Remote repeat rate to the maximum ?

As the Harmony is so much more capable than the Slingbox remote my feeling is that if you can't get the Harmony to work you don't stand a chance with the Slingbox.

I am not sure how to set the repeat rate to maximum in harmony remote. Neither do I know what RF stands for for remote terms. All I know is that if I use ir widget to capture the power toggle, it is using xmp-1 and obc code 15. Like that in the rmdu file.

If you go into Troubleshoot on the Harmony software, one of the options talks about the device not reacting properly or reacting too much. That takes you to the repeat setting, which you can set anywhere between 1 aind 6. Maybe that your power button needs a 'long' keypress so that it doesn't react instantly. Just guessing.

When you do the capture, do you get the repeat value displayed ? (I only use IRScope) ?

RF stands for Radio Frequency and is an alternative method for remote controls as it is not dependent on line-of-sight. Dish Network, Tivos and DirecTV use it as an alternative option. And it means that the IR system of the Harmony and the Slingbox are useless. Again, just guessing. Probably not applicable in your case if the Power button on the real remote emits IR.

Setting the repeat to max of 5 for my harmony remote will not turn the stb on.

IRscope shows +5 copies in misc tab if that is what you mean.

Hi Chuliu,

I've been following this thread, as Alan has already said, a lot of equipment takes a l-o-n-g press of the power button to turn on a unit.

If you simply tap your OEM remote, does it turn your unit on reliably, or do you have to hold the button down?

If it always works with a tap, does the button always send out OBC 15, or does it alternate with each tap?

If it always works with a tap, how many repeats does it indicate in the MISC column?

If it takes a long keypress, how many repeats does it take to get your set to turn on?

Have you considered just removing the power function from the bin so you can't accidentally turn it off?

Hi Vicky.
Actually I need to hold the power for it to power on.
The idea of removing the power button is a good one.
I will consider it.

Hi You can consider this case closed.
I remove the power button from the rmdu and compiled it with code S1106.
Re-assigned the functions to buttons.
Now I have a realistic remote without power button.

Thanks for the help and advice.
