I tried several times to upload to remote after copying the upgrade, for some strange reason I am not able to do it. RM gives me no error, however, the device code change does not stick (I tried vcr and cbl, as well as different device numbers)

After I upload, which appears to go well, I then download and find out the device code reverted back to what it was.

Could this be because not all keys are mapped?

Are you forgetting to copy the protocol upgrade too?

No. I copy the upgrade, add a device (past the upgrade), then assign it to the appropriate device. The mapped keys show up correctly in the device list, however, upload fails to change the device code.

I already did an upgrade for my vizio tv, which worked fine.

That still sounds like you're only copying the device upgrade and not the protocol upgrade. When you say you did this for the TV that kind of confirms it because the TV upgrade doesn't use a protocol upgrade.

Who loaded the VCR/1143 and DVD/2020 upgrades, because they both use protocol upgrades?

At any rate, to eliminate the chance of user error, I have added the upgrade to your IR file and assigned it to the SAT button. I have loaded this into my 8910 and have confirmed that it loads OK.

Ok. I figured out how to copy protocol upgrade and the upload went fine. However, while the remote receiver blinks, none of the buttons work.

I then uploaded your file which has most of the keys mapped and the protocol upgrade. Same result Crying or Very sad

This IR file is ready to go, so you don't need to copy anything, but for future upgrades, you copy the protocol in exactly the same way as the device upgrade.

Look at image 5.8 and onwards in this doc...

Did you add the VCR/1143 and DVD/2020 upgrades, because they both use protocol upgrades?

I see what's going on, I had forgotten to put the updated executor that I was testing with into the KM file. I've just re-tested and the signals still look identical, and I've updated both the KM file and the IR file, so please re-test.

KM file...

Only PIP missing from the original learned codes (learned from a different key on the MCE remote). Do you happen to have that by chance? I can just add it to RM table. Thanks.

Can you help me make sure that we've got all the buttons and that they're all labeled correctly. I've written down all the buttons that are on the original remote and I've removed the ones that are obviously in the upgrade, which leaves the following list of buttons from the original remote and from the upgrade that you'll need to match up for me.

Original remote buttons
(in order, top to bottom, left to right)
"(e)"
yellow
blue
green
red
pic1
pic2
pic3
pic4
left arrow
mouse-left
mouse-right
big circular pad
start
star (*)
hash (#)
close
clear

From the upgrade
Guide
L1
L2
L3
L4
Menu
MOVE
Sleep
SWAP
TV/Vid

Could you do me a favor and learn all the buttons that you skipped, just in case the next person needs them.

Rob, one last favor. Can you please add PIP (from 8910_MCE_Learned(3).ir) and M1 from the file below

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6544

I used M1 to learn "Clear" on the MCE remote.

With that, I think, I have mapped all the necessary keys for this upgrade.
