1. Device: Samsung BD-P2500
2. Type of device: DVD
3. Year: 2008/2009
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-6131
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes
10. Learning remote question? Maybe

I'm currently using the BD-P1500 RM file from the files section and it works fine with the exception of one button, the 'EXIT' button. It has the 'RETURN' and 'CANCEL' but no 'EXIT' which leaves me hanging in several of the interfaces for this player.

Since it's a single button missing perhaps it belongs in the discrete forum but I'm really hoping that somebody has a complete BD-P2500 file kicking around and it didn't quite seem to fit there as well as here (apologies if that's incorrect).

I do have a learning remote (somewhere...) and if nobody else has a complete file for this beast I'll do my best to snag that button with it but it's been quite some time since I've had to dig in to that part of things so I would be happy to avoid that part...

Thanks for any help,

Dan

The BDP1500 upgrade you mention lists functions for OBC's from 0 to 42 inclusive and then OBC 50 and 51. You could create an upgrade using the missing OBC's and see if you can find your Exit function (or other, more exotic functions)?

IIRC, exit functioned identically to return, so I left it out. I no longer have the player or I'd add it for you. Maybe xnappo still has his 1400. I'm pretty sure they all have the exit button on the original remote, but it seems to have been left out of the 1000, 1400 and 1500 upgrades.

It's always a good idea to capture EVERY button from the OEM remote, even if you think they are not useful or duplicate the functionality of another button. Then when you create the KM/RM file, just add a note saying why you think the button is not very useful.

Dan, if you do have a JP1 learning remote, then please find it and learn the button. If you're afraid that you won't know what to do, once you've found the remote come back here and ask for help because it's really easy.

Off to the learning remote I go...

Well, the kids have just gone down for their nap so I'll see if I can snag a half hour or so from my weekend domesticity and head to the basement.

I have gone through the process of doing an upgrade for an old Sony VCR that I had via my learning remote so I expect that I'll be able to thrash my way through it again, mostly just being lazy 8-)

I'll update if/when I get any more info and post what I find if I can't figure it out.

mdavej, I believe that the return button is used in most of the interfaces (I've only had the player for a few days) but in the Netflix section the only way out is the exit button...

All you need to do is this...

1) learn the EXIT button using your learning remote
2) download the learning remote's memory using IR.exe
3) get the EFC or OBC from the IR display
4) add it to your upgrade file

If the OBC or EFC is not clearly displayed in step 3, post a copy of your IR file and we'll look at it.

Found my code

Well, that was easier than I remembered... :D

I ran through one row of four functions, three of which were in the BD-P1500 upgrade, the known three matched so I'm taking that as a good sign:

Code: Select all

disc_menu Samsung36 32 0 29 B8 207 E=7
info Samsung36 32 0 30 78 209 E=7
exit Samsung36 32 0 43 D4 108 E=7
title_menu Samsung36 32 0 32 4 242 E=7
And, as underquark suggested, my missing code is in the 43-49 range, the OBC range not included in the original upgrade file.

I'll load that to a remote to test it and then probably come back down and double check everything then I'll try and put an upgrade file in the repository. Is there a preferred order for adding functions to a KM spreadsheet? Does it even matter once it's dumped to the txt file?

Thanks for all the help, sorry to be a bother, I should have just buckled down and done the work to begin with...

I've added exit to the 1500 upgrade.
