Cool. So now maybe the URC-7525 isn't such a shabby remote after all. And if you get really lucky, one of the extender writers might find that it's similar enough to an existing remote that they can port their extender over to it and make it into a multi-device remote.

Hi everybody,

I am a beginner to JP1 as well. I have had the same trouble as described above.

I used the newest RDF file, and can now update several buttons on the 7525 remote. However most buttons don't work, only the power and volume buttons work.

I have an 7780 remote as well, with this remote I learned the keys from the original remote and now I want to set all the buttons to the 7525 remote however sadly this fails.

Can someone help me out?

With kind regards,
Miche

Hi Rob,

Thank you for your reply. The file can be found on the following link:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6801

I also made one keymove using "Magic -> 994 -> Mute ->OK"

With kind regards,

Hi Rob,

For you information, here are two IR files of the 7780 remote, one is with the learned buttons, the other one is with an device upgrade made with RM from the learned buttons. Both work fine.

I checked your learns against the upgrade that you added and I don't see anything wrong with the upgrade, though there are some buttons missing from the upgrade and I can't tell where you got the codes for the CH+ and CH- buttons, as the learns are bad for those.

Also, in your emails to me you described the device as a set top box, whereas you've added it to the remote as a TV device upgrade, so just to be sure, you are using TV device mode when you test this, right?

I don't see how I can help further as I don't have this remote so I can't test your file. Maybe you should send Barf a PM to see if he can help.

One final thought, do you have a digital camera or camcorder? If you do, you should try looking at the remote's IR-LED through the camera's viewfinder when you're pressing a button, so you can see if the IR-LED is working. You can see IR when viewed through a digital camera's viewfinder.

Hi Rob,

About the IR file from the 7780, I am sorry, I included an earlier file where not all of the buttons are mapped correctly.

I followed your advice, and changed the device upgrade from TV to Cable. Furthermore I added more buttons the device upgrade and tried it again. And now all the buttons from the upgrade work!!

However I find it strange that with the other device upgrade the remote is sending out IR signals, checked it with a camcorder, obviously I don't know which. But that doesn't matter now.

Thank you very much for the information and your help on this subject.

Kind regards,
Michel van Geffen

Good to hear. Now that it's working, don't forget to load a copy of the upgrade file that you created into the file section.
