Info on best speakers for doing modem uploads

I have 3 RS type Kamaleon remotes and I was not really wanting to make cables and do surgery on my remotes so I tried the modem approach first. I tried my speakers and other things and had limited success. I finally stuck on the idea that this is a magnetic coupling and most speakers are shielded these days. I was looking at the top of my desk and it came to me that the IPOD ear buds are not shielded. SO I gave them a try and well I have never gotten a bad load now. You need to turn up the volume louder than you would normally listen to it but not so loud you destroy the ear-buds. On my remotes I just lay one of the ear pieces over the pwr function and it works every time.
This is just an FYI for anyone interested.

I confirm that earbuds (not just ipod ones) work well for modem uploads.
They also have the advantage of not having your whole house asking why you are doing those funny noises :)

I used regular sized headphones on my well amplified headphone jack, and it seemed to work fine.

The key is to have an adequate varying magnetic field from the voice coil, for that is what the coil in the remote sees, not the actual sound.

I've always just used my PC speakers and it works just fine, so I guess they're not shielded.
