1. Device: sony tv kp-53hs30
2. Type of device: tv
3. Year: 2001/2002
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: 7800
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? yes
6. Still have original remote? no
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? no
9. Partially working setup code? yes
10. Learning remote question? right and left arrows don't work under sony tv code 0000. what others can i try.

we inherited a sony kp-53hs30 projection tv without a remote control and i set my cinema 7 / 7800 to 0000 for sony.
everything works perfectly except the right and left arrow keys which don't work at all.
does anyone know what codes to use for the arrow keys or where i can find different codes to try.

Advanced codes for left and right are 051 and 044 per THIS upgrade.

It's not that the codes assigned to the LEFT and RIGHT buttons are not valid, the problem is that nothing is assigned to those buttons in the version of the TV/0000 code that's in the URC-7800 remote. Which is odd because those buttons are programmed in the 15-1994 which is about the same age.

I see that you're a JP1 user, so you could load any of the Sony TV upgrades that are in the file section. I'm betting that most of them would still be a good fit for your TV and I'm also betting that most of them (if not all of them) include the left and right arrow buttons.

Furthermore, even if you weren't a JP1 user, the LEFT and RIGHT buttons are listed on the TV/0000 advanced code page:

The EFC's 51 (right arrow) and 52 (left arrow) might work. However, there's upgrade HERE that shows this and that you might try.

weird that the left/right arrow buttons were not assigned.
how's a guy to know that. Smile

thanks for both responses.
now i will try a standard sony tv file and if that doesn't work right i will try the alternate file, both via my trusty homemade jp1 cable.

thanks guys.

If a code is assigned to a button, the red LED will light up when the button is pressed, if nothing's assigned to a button, it will stay dark when the button is pressed.

The one in my post is an exact match for the OEM remote.
