JP1 Remotes

I recently replaced the battery in my iPod with a kit from ipodjuice.com that included an extremely effective tool for cracking open the case. The basic principle is similar to the most excellent instructions Tommy Tyler posted, except that one half is metal and there are things poking through to be minded. It didn't leave any marks at all, and I have found that the tool is just as effective in cracking open a remote. I see they sell the tool alone for $5 plus shipping:

Nice tool. You could, of course, spend $5 on a KFC and ask for two plastic knives.

For $5 plus shipping, my favorite remote opening tool is a device called a watch case opener knife. A Google search will turn up thousands of sources world wide, such as this one, and this one.
