Old Setup
Scientific Atlanta via Component to Vizio VO32L
Slinbox AV via Svideo to Scientific Atlanta Box
New Setup -
SA BOX via HDMI to VIZIO VO32L
Slingbox via SVIDEO
When my TV is off I cannot get video to the Sling because the cable box is not pushing video through the HDMI cable as I understand it.
The only workaround would be to use the 2nd connection on the sling AV to turn the TV before watching remotely via slingbox.
There is no VIZIO code that I know of built into the Slingbox.
I have used every posted version of the VIZIO remotes to get code to the slingbox and I cannot get it to work.
Any suggestions?

Which device is your Slingbox actually connected to? If it's connected via an S-Video cable to the SA box, and that hasn't changed, I don't understand what the problem is? How would the cable box or the Slingbox even know that the TV was turned on or off?
There aren't any TV codes in the Slingbox.

The cable box is hooked up to the TV via HDMI. That connection only pushes video when the HDMI connection is active - meaning the TV itself is on.
The Slingbox is connected through SVideo to the cable box. It gets audio but the box itself does not push video unless the HDMI link is active.
The only work around per the cable company and slingbox is to go back to component.
I thought that it may be possible to use the 2nd conection of the sling AV to turn the TV power on prior to watching TV via slingbox so that the cable box would push video.
....is there anyway to get the slingbox to just turn the TV on - no other controls?

The Slingbox doesn't support TV codes, so if you're creating a TV code it won't work.MetTelDavid wrote:So I see you are the guru -
trying to get the Slingbox to accept custom code from RM.
It's just erroring out on my. IR blaster=2, so I am using PL.
TV=Vizio VO32L
ALL i need is the power function.
HDMI is preventing slingbox from recieving video when the TV isnt on because the cable box isnt sending video signal through HDMI.
Need to use the alt input on the Sling AV to get the TV on then watch TV remotely.
Otherwise I can just switch back to component....

I can't agree with the workaround because I don't understand the problem.
Please explain further how you have things hooked up and why the Slingbox doesn't work when the TV is turned off. I suspect this is due to how you have things wired together.
And if you realyl do want to get your Slingbox to power on your TV, you would need to create a non-TV upgrade in order to do it because the Slingbox doesn't support TV codes.

SA Cable Box8300HDDVR cable box is hooked up to a Vizio VO32L TV via HDMI cable
SB AV is hooked up to the Cable box via S-Video.
Everything is wired properly.
When the connection between the TV and Cable box is component there is no issue.
When that connection is via HDMI there is no video when the Television is off. This is a known slingbox error and more or less has to do with the cable box itself.
Slingbox doesnt support HDMI because of this specific issue. As I understand it the cable box only puts out video when there is an active link on both ends of the HDMI cable, meaning the cable box is on and the TV is on. If the TV is off there is no video coming from the Slingbox.
If the TV is on, there is no issue because the slingbox recieves video.
When the TV is off there is no video being sent from the cable box via the S-video cable through the slingbox.
I'm 8million% possitive its wired correctly. Time Warner confirmed what I had to pry out of the sales rep from slingbox because I am out of "warranty" and tech support costs $30 an incident.
How does one create a Non TV upgrade?
What are the VIZIO remote codes for in the remote section - they appear to be TV codes?
