Finding unlisted valid codes

Post by wnewell »

Other than just making a file with all the other obc codes not used by the original remote, uploading it as an upgrade and seeing what the codes do, is there another easier way?

Also, is it possible to easily get the rom obc codes from the factory settings for a device code?

Using all the OBC's is kind of fun, when you are using a protocol that just has 256 possibilities. There is a little danger involved too, because you can get into "service menu" functions. However some protocols have thousands of code combinations because they vary device values as well as command functions.

One of the best ways to find functions that are not on my original remote, is to pop open all of the upgrades from the file section that we have for similar devices for the same manufacturer and trying those codes.

Code: Select all

Here are some resources for finding basic keys in built in upgrades.

But again, popping open the upgrades in the file section provides a lot of information.

That is the easier way. Prior to being able to use JP1 upgrades we had to test each EFC manually by typing it out on the remote.
